At a guess, pollen filter is in need of changing (if it gets damp then all the cabin air, which goes through it, gets very damp too). Could just be due a change, or the housing might not be fully sealed.
Alternatively, you might have water ingress elsewhere. Feel all the carpets (including in the boot/wheel well area) for dampness.

Good point re pollen filter, is it easy to check and change? never looked.

It was raining for most of the day and had been getting in and out frequently.

Are you using the zircon ? If not, try leaving it on continuously in damp weather. Not wishing to preach to the choir, the aircon works by cooling and drying the air then (depending on the temperature set for the car interior) heating it prior to it entering the cabin.

In my E46s I've found that setting the recirculation function to "on" is effective at drying the cabin air more quickly.

I assume you are running the A/C all the time and not in recirculation mode.

I have found in many cars recirculation set to on excessively causes this.

My f30 is on auto though and has never suffered - what setting you using ?

It's in the passenger footwell behind the panel below the gearbox.

Just remember to reconnect the 12v socket when you put it back!

yes recirculatiin is the worst for steaming up as it effectively recirculating any moisture, made worse also by carrying passengers.

the pollen filter is a good shout but also bare in mind condensation is created when warm moisture meets a cold surface so adjusting the fans to counter the imbalance when its raining is not uncommon in any car

If your not using the A/C then that is why its misting up. Leave A/C on all year around and this will cool and dry the air preventing misting up.

I got in wet yesterday and car steamed up a lot. A/c did clear it but I feel that it does so more slowly than on the previous series 3.

^^^^ Was going to be my next comment.

There are the options to try the MAX button for a quick clear, or the Screen button. MAX will be automatically include the A/C function, whereas Screen will only include the A/C if already on.

Unless the A/C is switched on, there is no way to identify if there could be a HVAC fault, as misting in wet conditions can be all over the place if just using Auto with A/C deactivated.

Current HVAC systems are designed to be more efficient in energy use, ECO-PRO settings being a good example of cutting back to a minimum.

Also the way we set it up, what intensity we run, will also affect how quickly we get heating/cooling/demisting.

Also check whether you're using Eco-pro mode with the eco ventilation option selected in iDrive.

I've found this really limits the demisting ability
