Drive both for yourself. I used to have a E90 330d before a few years back. I so much wanted a 335d and took one for a test drive. In standard form i hated the way it handled. Brought a 330d sdrive with adaptive and have been very happy with the way it drives and the economy.
I just could not live with a standard 335d, the way it handled just felt wrong to me (and the wife). MPG - expect a 5-7mpg difference. That said if the 335d is cheaper and you are prepared to modify the suspension then i would probably go 335d. |

Thanks to everyone for the varied responses - I did manage to get a test drive of a 335d xdrive and whilst I can agree with the slightly higher ride height it's more or less the same drive I thought, so I decided to grab myself a 335d for 320d prices and started to add the extras.
Spoke to the agent in the morning and by dinnertime he'd come back with an interesting proposal - my 335d with extras would have been costing around £560 - however I'm now being offered an M3 for £570, at first I was disregarding the offer as I was thinking of the fuel consumption, however I'm starting to come round to the idea now. Thanks to everyone for their advice and observations, i'll let you know how I go on. cheers. |

The agent was offering a 335D on a lease with mods? Who is the agent?
Whilst £570 for a M3 is cheap £560, for 335 is expensive isn't it? I guess it depends on mileage, term, etc... |

Surely there must be some either very low mileage or a large uplift in deposit?
I know a few places do reduced rates for 1 or 2 year old cars that have been previously leased out. Something which you have to watch out for when leasing a car. |

There's plenty above about the way the 335d drives so I'll not comment as those above are way above my pay grade on the subject.
....but I can give you MPG. I'm running at around 35mpg over 7,000 miles in 3 months. 80% of that is motorway or fast straight A roads, so if you're doing a lot of town/school runs I guess you'll see late 20's/low 30's. Would I change it - no way!! Most versatile and fun car I've owned |

Having taken the ACS box off, I'm getting 39mpg at the moment and I haven't slowed down. Quite how that works, I am just not sure
