Warranty work required!
Took the car in today for them to have a look at a few things...
So far they've decided to: 1) replace my driver's seat base due to the left hinge mechanism sqeaking 2) Fit new door seals on the driver's side due to the corrosion 3) Fit the tape to the shadow gloss trim to manage the door seal creaking The technician said he'd have to sort the creaking so that he'd actually have a chance of hearing the creaking coming from the steering! They also found a fault with my active sound system... which I was impressed at, though I did point out that I unplugged it myself and would rather it stayed that way! I asked them about my spongey brakes but they couldn't see any issues with the system, but because I've got braided lines on they'd have to charge me if I wanted them to bleed them, which is fair enough. No mention of all my other modifications!

After 13 months and 16k, mine is also in for the infernal door seal squeaking too! No seal change, just the Teflon tape solution like you Terry which they assure me is invisible....
1 major issue though, full steering rack change - my variable had play in it, this was physically felt through the steering in the form of a knocking sensation and noise during driving or stationary with engine off. For the records, they (Cotswold Cheltenham) weren't bothered by the ACS springs and completed the KDS alignment without fuss. Plus first full service, so car should feel fresh as a daisy. In the meantime, I have a wonderful 435d GC demo in EBII and oyster leather to waft around in which is really quite lovely to be in and drive. I'd be tempted if I wasn't banned from visiting BMW sales forecourts by the breadknife.. |

Got the car back today and only done a few miles but all quiet with the creaking so far.
They couldn't hear the steering creak so that will have to go back another time. The new seat base was over £800 alone, and the total bill (to BMW) for the new seals, Teflon tape, seat base and labour was £1900!!!

Warranty as ervice from BMW appears to be excellent. I phoned and booked mine in for the first service. They asked if there was anything else I wanted them to look at. I mentioned a couple of the 403M alloys starting g to blister from the hub caps and they just said, send us a photo of each wheel and let us know whether it is front or rear and we will swap them while the car is in. That is good service.

Got mine back this afternoon. The Teflon, without carefully looking, appears invisible. But anyway, squeaking gone. I told them not to bother changing the seals which was offered. It is known that replacing it doesn't solve the problem.
Had the service done and now all software totally up to date. Just slightly frustrating that all, profile settings are wiped. But in truth, don't really mind flicking through iDrive and reacquainting and personalising my setup. Rack replaced and the steering does seem somewhat firmer. And more stable. I had been getting odd and difficult to locate vibrations at speed so I am hoping the replacement resolved this. Unfortunately, the knock still remains, which is odd, so this has been escalated to BMW. Anyway, car feels great And significant improvements in customer management experienced from Cotswold Cheltenham too, which is nice feedback to report. |

Mine is in the dealers today for the creaking door seals. Didn't need to get off the dealers car park on the test drive for the technician to hear it - it's that bad!
I am told the teflon tape is for use on the one series. They are cleaning the seals and if that doesn't fix it they said they will replace all the seals. |

Tape fitted and waiting to collect so we will see (or rather hear) how it is.
Unfortunately I forgot to say don't wash the car......damn it. I will try the PTFE spray next if the Teflon tape hasn't worked, thanks. |

Mine has been in several times for seals; seems to be the window glass moving, rather than the door. Mine has the teflon modification. Generally pretty quiet upon return, with the noise increasing over time.

This is interesting.
I have an annoying noise coming from what seems like the steering column or near the drivers door tweeter. Don't know how to describe the noise, but it's starting to do my tits in. Is this the sort of thing you guys above are experiencing? |

Well the car is silent .................for now!
Telfon tape appears to have worked and reccomended not to use car wash shampoo that contains silicon. Funny but my wife's car (1 series) gets washed with the same shampoo and doesn't squeak like my 3 did. |
