"One catch: unlike most Tesla Model S tuning enhancements, this one isn’t a software update — and it’s not free. Why? Because Tesla had to make new, physical hardware to make this possible. Specifically, they had to make a fuse that didn’t melt when you pulled ridiculously high amperages over it.
The fuse upgrade will be a $10k option for new buyers, and cost $5k (before installation) for existing P85D owners." Wow, $10k for a fuse, why not just use a 6 inch nail? |

Yup a £6k upgrade to have a Ludicrous mode.
Have you seen the other parts of the interview where the 4x4 Tesla will do....0-60....in...3.3 secs, wowsers, almost a second faster than a Cayenne Turbo S!!!

The other downside of using that instant power for acceleration, is your mileage is now 5 miles at 30mph |

I've been in the regular one
Off the line - nothing beats it But after 40/50 a powerful ICE will beat it and how often do you really do full on launches ? But then the cars on that level are double the price if not more |

The 'base spec' for £50K now gets you 70KW battery (260 miles), RWD, 315 bhp, free superchargers for life. 12 months ago you only got 60 KW battery, 215 mile range, and you had to pay £5K extra for the superchargers.
Still not cheap, but once specced up with all the 'essentials' its about £55K, which isn't that expensive either. The 85D at £65K with the 90KW battery upgrade - 330 mile range, AWD, 417bhp, and 0-60 4.2 second is probably the best value. |

Starting to see more of them about now. I like their presence but not sold on overall quality.
Imagine. Just imagine what we'll be driving in another 20 years! |

At the moment, the main negative is access to 24/7 charge points. A lot of charge points are in places that lock up after 5/6pm. Also range is obviously dependant on speed and does have big drop offs with both acceleration and speeds over 60mph. That and a trip to Asda for shopping and needing to charge up, then 4 other electric cars in front of you at 40 mins etc, hope the coffee is good at Asda |
