Adding Gloss to Matte Finish Rims

Has anybody heard of changing the finish of a wheel without compromising the color? I.e. going from matte to a glossier finish. I have a set of gunmetal grey rims that aren'y exactly matte grey, but they're not very glossy either. I have been wondering if a bit glossier grey would look better on my black car. When I wash and wax my car, the difference between the car body's finish and wheel finish is much more apparent. I know PlastiDip has a glossifier paint, but I was told by a rep that it has to be applied on top of a PlastiDip base. I don't know if this can be done very easily, but I welcome any further info.
