I debadged my 335i within 30 min of getting the car home, right after i removed the dealer's license plate frame. I've debadged every car I've ever owned--it just looks better. Why clutter up the trunk lid with little chrome-plated plastic numbers? I'm quite certain those cheap little pieces of plastic aren't part of the designers' vision for the styling of the vehicle--just something mandated by the marketing folks, which I totally understand, they want to sell cars and make sure the public can identify the car, but I personally view them the same way I view dealer plate frames and dealer stickers: ugly marketing BS that I dont want on my car.

I do it so people like OP can feel better about themselves when they see my car and shake their heads, knowing exactly what is going on in my brain when I removed the shameful 28i badge.

I'm doing something a little different: debadging my silver 328i badge and rebadging with a black 328i badge. My car is jet black and I think my bimmer will look cleaner. To each his own I guess...

Can the x-drive badge on the f30 be just pulled off with no holes left behind? Anything special to do so or just get a finger in there and work it off?

Can it be ordered without that one, but leave the 335i alone?

I have lived in Germany for 2 years, it has not been my experience that most bmws are debadged here. In fact most still have badges, I would call it about 15% are debadged.

One of the first 'mods' I'm doing with my 335i is removing the badge. Here are my reasons why:

1. I prefer having a cleaner look to my cars, and I'm not a huge fan of chrome emblems. I bought the 335 for its performance, not to show off that I've got a higher-end 3 series. In fact, I kinda wish that my M-Sport had a few less ///M badges on it (steering wheel, door sills, wheels, dead pedal, etc.)

2. It's much easier to clean and care for the paint on the trunk without the badge there.

3. The uninitiated aren't going to know what you've got, which adds to the fun at shows, on the street, and at the track. The initiated will, though, depending on the exhaust configurations.

4. As far as high-end Lexuses (or is it Lexi?) go, my mom used to have a Coach Edition LS400, which, in 1997, was pretty much the most expensive Lexus money could buy. On the Coach Edition, the emblems were there, but were painted to match the color of the car. Lending substance to the thought that understated elegance is always in style. You may not see many de-badged 6 or 7 Series, LS600s, or S- and CL-Class Benzes rolling around, but do you necessarily need the badge to see that it's something special? In the U.S., not really.

personally I don't care and I didn't post this to offend anyone, I was just curious as to why people do it.

Also I should have put a side note on there that people on these forums are different than your typical BMW owner. Maybe most people on these forums just want the "clean" look but I think in general all the de-badged BMWs I have seen its people wanting to hide the engine they really have

the other reason I thought it was interesting how many BMWs are debadged is that I don't really see Audi's, Mercedes, or Lexus cars de-badged, at least not around Chicago.

I'm pretty confident that most 328i buyers could afford the 335i if they wanted, especially since the majority of buyers (in the US anyways) are just leasing their cars. If you cant afford an extra $50 a month you probably shouldn't get a 328i IMO.

I debadged my 335i and my 328i because I like the look and to me there is nothing significant in the 3XXi badge. Everyone knows its a 3 series, what does it matter to 90% of the world if its 335i, 328i, 320i, etc. I don't need to worry if people are measuring me based on that. I feel bad for those who think they do.

The badges are all stick on adhesives. You can use floss or fishing line to remove the badges. There is a debadging option (forgot the code) to order the car debadged but it removes all emblems and not just the xDrive emblem.

I order a 335i xDrive debadged. It's a sleeper.

Ordered my 335 xdrive debadged from the factory...too much going on, prefer the cleaner look. The option was not specific for 335 versus xdrive badges...it just came without any.

You should de-badge your 328i as it's only got a 4 cyl 2 litre turbo sowing machine of an engine much like a non-premium hot hatch.

Europe is a bit different than America in that respect. The bragging point people touted via badging when I lived in Europe was having a 4v per cylinder 4 banger....I saw countless cars rolling around with 16v stickers/emblems on their cars like it was a source of pride.

I don't really know if there is such a big difference.

People always tend to stick on the extra badges from more expensive models/cars on their entry level cars. Do you have a BMW you have the M-badge, a Mercedes gets the AMG-logo and so on. And about a decade ago all the top-end models were 16 valve cars, so that is what "people" used back then.

I haven't seen a 16v badge on a car the past ten, fifteen years.

edit: I'm not saying you didn't see 16v-badges, I'm just saying back when people used to stick them on their cars the top of the line cars used to have them. So what I'm saying is that every market is just the same. People use badges from the more expensive models on their cars, but the cars are different for each market.
