Berry BMW closed!

Just received the email, hope none of you guys were about to pick up a TRL ordered car!

Although, maybe he's still operating out of his unit :

Yeah our local dealership also closed for three weeks. No idea when Mrs BT’s new motor will pitch up. Ordered two weeks ago, originally scheduled for delivery by end April - don’t think there’s much chance of that now sadly

Don't see how it can't affect service history unless they've got a way of backdating it on the iDrive.

Similar email received from Harwoods in Basingstoke yesterday, they serviced & MOT’d my car on Monday, I was relieved I managed to get it done as I had a feeling it was coming.

Same here although mine's been stuck on 1400 miles for the last couple of months. It's for rear brake pads and my mechanic confirmed they're due to be replaced so not sure why the countdown stopped?

Stratstones sent one out also....Not that i use them other to pick up my current ride.
To be fair i cant see many people walking around showrooms given the current climate and that was before the lockdown, so they may as well close.

Just had to re-book the X3 into a local MOT centre. It was due into Sytner HW today and the MOT runs out 4th April, so I don't think they'll re-open before then. MOT centre says (with some justification) they're an essential; service so they'll stay open until ordered to close (if that happens).

Obviously it will affect the history

However it wont mean warranty claims will be declined solely on the basis of a late scheduled maintenance

Yep, got emails from a whole stack of dealers over the past few days, Sytner, Berry Heathrow, Park Lane & Westerly BMW are all closed.

Seen that MOT's expiring from now have been automatically extended for 6 months or so.

Like others, I'm a little concerned about the potential impact on Warranty claims, iDrive service status display in term of services that may technically 'appear to be overdue'.

It's an unprecedented situation, I just wouldn't want to be in the position a warranty company attempts to shirk their responsibility of the back of a 'delayed' service.

Beyond a PR disaster for any company that doesn’t take the current crisis into consideration re warranty claims.

I doubt those companies will be bothered, given the behaviour of some companies right now, during the crisis.

The niche market of car warranty won't be troubled by bad PR.

Chandlers in Brighton (Portslade) also closed. Here's a link to their message: https://mailchi.mp/138d7701fe0c/stat...5?e=3791d2af7d

I was due an interim oil change on Tusday but called to postpone. Not sure what their 'Urgent Service' facility is. Guess it's to do with looking after key people like NHS staff etc.

Posted this on another thread, may be helpful to others:

All cars serviced within 3 months or 2,000 miles (whichever is earlier) of the service indicator will still be protected by any applicable warranty.
