Carbon Fibre Mirror Caps - Reccomendation wanted

Looking for a recommendation for a place to buy these at a reasonable price, like an Amazon or eBay seller that someone can confirm figment and quality. Not looking for wrap or sticker but real carbon fibre oem style replacements with easy installation and good fitment, have searched around and most links people posted for eBay buyers are old and out of date as they were years ago.

Thanks!

Ones I got from eBay seller have almost lost their poly coating after 6 months of Florida sun, and the passenger one is slightly faded. Of course, at $100 a pair, I can buy new ones every 6 months for my lease and still be cheaper than oem. Haha.

I haven’t seen a knockoff get good reviews for durability yet. Perhaps you can spray an extra coat of uv protection clear coat on them? But their Fitment is almost always fine since most knockoffs use a plastic shell (I’m guessing oem regular mirror cap) with a carbon wrap around it.

The oem ones may actually be dry carbon throughout, hence their quality and price.

The felt 1213243242 thread for asking about this. Considered the search function before posting?

I have aftermarket cf mirrors. If I have to do it over again, I would pay extra for OEM. Fitment on aftermarket is not exact and one cap starting to come lose.

After hearing about all the fitment issues with the non oem caps I will probably just end up doing a vinyl wrap on the mirrors. Upwards of $1000 for two little pieces of carbon fibre for the mirrors lol no thanks

Don't know where you are buying your parts from - but the OEM CF Mirror Covers go for $235/ea = $470 for the set from forum vendor BMWPartsPros right now Black Friday Special

https://www.bmwpartspros.com/partloc...catalogid=8798

Even at regular price they are $650

-OR-

ECSTuning has the set for $568

Umm ya so I'm in Canada so typically a part that costs $650 usd ends up being about $1000 cdn after shipping, taxes and duty.

Even $470 usd for these things is such an incredible rip off it is hilarious.

I bought a set from ebay from a seller named dsg_tuning. The fitment was spot on, but I dont know if I would recommend this seller. I had fitment issues on another part I bought and the seller has been a supreme douche about it.

But for mirror covers, fitment was 100%. I got them covered with a 3M clear bra so I hope this will help them in the long term.

Sorry for the dirty car. Its far from my usual standards

So?

$1 CDN is not the same as $1 USD.

Considering $1.00 USD is worth $1.2717 CDN as I type, add in exchange fee of 3% and $1000 CDN is $850USD plus shipping and customs.

That’s true no matter what you purchase from USA (or, quite frankly, imported and sold in Canada)

You also neglect to state that if purchased in Canada besides the same basic price, you would also pay roughly 19% VAT to your National Health Care System.

Thus your $850 CDN part costs $1,020 CDN locally...and you still have to wait 6-12 months to get something as simple as a MRI.

Whoa man this might be the most confusing thing I've ever read.

No idea what vat or health care has to do with anything I was simply stating that a part for sale online for $650usd ends up being close to $1000 cdn after shipping and duties sorry for not doing all the math maybe it's like $900cdn whatever, close enough. What I'm getting at is there seems to be a consensus that only the oem mirror caps are worth buying because of poor fitment of the aftermarket caps and I'm saying there is no way in hell I would spend upwards of $1000cdn for two pieces of 4"x6" carbon fibre I think that is ridiculous and would not even pay $250cdn for something so small. That was why I made the thread to try and find a decent fitting alternative that is priced reasonably for the part it is.
For example you can buy the m performance tail lights for basically the same price as these little pieces of carbon fibre that is laughable. I could see such a high price for the whole friggin mirror assembly but lol the caps... nah I'm good and will leave them white or just wrap them for a couple bucks.

Whole mirror assembly WITHOUT carbon fiber caps will run you close to $3700 USD MSRP...or over $5,000 CDN.

This is blowing out of proportions... what OP is looking for is something like these and should by any means be under 100 a pair including shipping.

Yup, but something like that where somebody has bought them and can comment on their fitment and quality. Those ones in particular might actually be stick on covers that go on top of the stock mirror caps which is what I am not looking for.

And between cheap build quality and bad fitment, they do not use UV inhibitors in resin or clear coat, if they even have clear coat.

So they fade or start turning yellow....

Again, there is a reason for the price besides the BMW tax.

I took the first possible example. Didnt even realize they were covers. But again, the seller I used I cant recommend for the already explained reasons.

But those I bought got clearcoat, were perfect fitment, are complete clip-on mirrors (you have to remove the OEM's to install) and with a clearbra they shouldnt discolor or get any kind of rock chips at all. I think I paid 80 or 90 usd for them delivered.

I compared them to OEM's and if they wouldnt have the part number on them, i'm not even sure you could tell the difference without taking a guess.

got a pair from aliexpress, paid like 70$ for both... fitment was great but the clearcoat started to cause a slip drip effect. I think its due to parking outside during the summer at like 115+

besides that it fit and looked great
