Auto High-beam on by default and setting sensitivity

Does anyone know if it's possible to have auto-highbeam on by default and if it's possible to set the sensitivity of the system?

I find when it's on, it reacts too quickly to roadsigns and as a result the lights switch on and off quite a lot when they don't have to.

There are actually several different sensitivity settings in the KAFAS camera that affect high beam assistant (e.g., AMBIENT_LIGHT_MEASUREMENT_VILLAGE_DET, STREET_LIGHT_DETECTION, SENS_TAILLIGHT_DETECTION, SENS_HEADLIGHT_DETECTION).

There is also an overall low-sensitivity mode that is apparently there to meet some US regulations. Since the part number for the camera is the same for Euro and US cars, this mode should be on Euro cars as well and it is enabled by setting ALLOW_SENS_CHANGE to "sensitivity_changeable" (which is the default US setting). After you have coded the above, with the engine on, vehicle stopped and light switch to the off (0) position, the low-sensitivity mode is activated by pushing the turn signal stalk forward and holding it there for 15 seconds. This produces a Check Control message stating "Reduced sensitivity mode activated. This mode may blind oncoming traffic". If HUD is on, a warning appears there as well.

What? That's awesome!

I've been absent from the forums for a while. When did you find this? Has anything new key things come up since like... October?

Great to have you back!

larrylam646 actually helped me to figure out this one in July (see this post). There is also something in your thread you might want to add to your Cheat Sheet.

Thanks! And awesome, thanks for the heads up! I'll try to update it soon once I do some digging for new changes/content, probably around Thanksgiving.

To be clear, the overall low-sensitivity mode mentioned in post #4 will reset with a power cycle and needs to be reactivated each time the engine is started, while the other sensitivity settings are permanent.

Based on this post from last night, shadowyman has been experimenting with lowering the camera's sensitivity to oncoming cars and the setting appears to work well in his video.
