Where would you recommend having something like this installed? Can any good automotive shop/dealership do it, or should I drive down to Dallas to go to an AWE dealer? I live in Oklahoma.

I got mine done at a local shop where I'm located. Any half-decent muffler shop should be able to do it. Took almost exactly 1 hr.

You could go to Blair Auto if you wanted. Unfortunately I don't have anyone directly in OK.

Or like G said, you don't have to get it installed at an AWE dealer, it's just preferred as they're familiar with our configurations. It's a fairly straight forward installation process, nonetheless.

Has anyone experienced a cold start rattle? It only happens for the first minute or so and quickly goes away, so it's not a big deal. Does the exhaust and/or midpipe need a readjustment after initial install? I'm thinking it might be a loose clamp or it's hitting up against the rear heat shield.

People with stock exhaust, including me have had this happen.

This. It happens on all of them, oddly enough. Not sure whether its waste gate or not though.

Does this affect only cars with the stock exhaust? This started happening after the AWE install. If it's just a normal thing, I assume it affects both, stock and aftermarket.

I had it stock and I've got it with MPPSK also, go's away quick. I also had the "stumble" on initial cold take off but that seems to have gone away when I added the MPPSK?

No completely normal. It's the vibration of the straight pipe. The rattling is there even with stock midpipe... but it's not as pronounced because of the resonators and larger rear muffler.

Thanks guys for the info and peace of mind. I'm guessing it's the infamous wastegate rattle and since it's normal, I'll just deal. Maybe the dealership will replace turbo under warranty.

No wastegate rattle on the b58. It's the straight pipe rifling noise because there's no resonator. Most apparent when exhaust is cold.

Does anyone have a picture of the resonator on the stock midpipe?

Also - are we saying that the non-resonated midpipe with a catless DP sounds like poopoo? I currently have the MPE and ER catless downpipe. It sounds great, but I'm a sucker for sweet exhaust sounds so I'm not sure if I should go for the midpipe or not.

Here's a diagram of the 340i's stock configuration minus DP. Hope this helps:

I don't have a video of a catless DP paired to our Non-res Mid Pipe and Touring Edition, unfortunately.

AWE 340i Non-Res Mid Pipe paired to the Touring Edition Axle-back Exhaust.

Pipe up with your own configuration for your 340i via an AWE dealer or direct, right this way.

Indeed, just less pronounced and not as snappy with the factory mid section in place.
