Question How to remove minor pitting on alloy wheels?

New to this site. Recently bought a 2015 435i convertible, but the previous lease owner as well as the CPO process didn’t spend a lot of time getting the “alloy” (aluminum?) wheels clean of brake dust, etc.
Now clean, I need advice on how to remove minor pitting on the wheels: how can I smooth them out, and what should I apply to protect them?
Thanks for your help!

You can't remove pitting. The only option is to refinish the wheels.
