Why are you still reading VIN from FA?

I showed you a picture where you had to change it from "Read VIN out of FA" to "Enter VIN", and then you manually enter your NBT's Donor VIN.

Also, what is with the FA you are using that thinks you have HU_Entry? You need FA with 609 Nav Pro in it, and a build date that supports NBT for your chassis.

You did it my way, and nothing failed? So what is the issue?

Why does your picture show you flashing NBT with FA from the car, which if you are successful doing, you will write car VIN to NBT, and then all the FSC Codes in the Head Unit will be lost.

I'm willing to lose all the codes FSC that I do to recover your NBT?

Maybe, and maybe not. It needs a flash attempted with everything setup correctly.

Do you have a car charger to maintain power to car during flash?

You are 10 hours ahead of me assuming you are on Moscow time. So, about 18.5 hours from now it will be 8 am my time and 6 pm your time. Send me a PM with TeamViewer Login.

No one any idea on this topic? shawn? frogman?
I've checked my rear view mirror in my F30 (of 2012) but I'm not sure if there is even a LED? I had an X3 during car inspection and this had a transparent looking LED at the bottom of the read view mirror.

Sorry, but I have no idea how to enable the Alarm beacon with the factory alarm.

I've seen reports of people trying to get the clown nose to blink via coding on cars without an alarm system; none have succeeded.

Either the LED isn't there, or the circuitry to get the LED to blink isn't there because the alarm was not ordered.

Looking at RealOEM, the rearview mirror with the alarm LED is a different part number than the one without the alarm LED.

Is there a guide covering restoration of custom code settings following a reset/code upgrade? I realize I have files now in the data directory that contain these settings. But is there a specific process to follow to be sure they are not overwritten before writing to the upgraded controller? If my vehicle code is upgraded, can I create problems by pushing the older settings files?

If this was previously covered, I'd appreciate a pointer. I didn't see it in the main set of PDFs.

Thanks.

If your vehicle was updated, it has newer CAFD's on the updated ECU's, and I would not attempt to restore data from the old CAFD versions because it very well may be incompatible. We have seen where the structure of the CAFD changes from one release to another.

Apart from that, the process to restore the data takes almost as long as just coding the car over from scratch, so there is little benefit.

Clown nose blinking

Gentlemen,
Found the following on the net after a long search and through using multiple
names for the clown nose. I am not sure (YET) if this is applicable to E90 or F30
and newer cars but I will try to find something related in my car CAFD's.
Hint: line number 10 might be a starting point.

The site is http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=711177

the thread is as follows:

1-I hope that this is not a report. Tried searching but didn't get an answer.
My 04 zhp is prewired for factory alarm. I was wondering : is there a way to make
the clown nose blink without having the alarm? Any diy's?

2-a dealership would have to do that, but I haven't found one that would...

3-All dealerships can do it for you. Just depends on whether they like you I guess.

4-I'll stop by tomorrow. And will keep u guys updated with what bs that they would give me

5-Any dealership will activate it for you....at a cost. An Indy mechanic can do it cheaper. I had mine activated at the BMW dealer when I was getting my DRL, auto door locks, and keys programmed. They will give you an option sheet. I would say 40-50 bucks. I had my clown nose activated, then later on added a BMW E46 siren I got used off Ebay, the clown nose blinks, the lights flash, and the siren chirps. I have a tilt sensor on the way. Eventually, I will have my Indy activate the alarm once I get the last piece. Hope this helps.

6-So I'm stopping by the dealer tomorrow. What are all the options that I can ask them to changer ? Can they make the doors to lock after driving off?

7-Some dealers may not know how to activate a non-existent alarm. If they need assistance, let them know it's the "visual confirmation when arming/disarming" option in Car/Key Memory settings will activate the blinking clown nose and allow your lights to flash when you arm/disarm the car.
Yes they can activate the locking after drive-off feature. Other things that can be changed is DRL's on/off, climate control adjustments, unlock button opens all doors or only driver's door, then second press unlocks other doors. A BEEP when your PDC is activated (if you have it),

8-All the options they can do for you are given out on the sheet at the dealer and is found on this site. Also, the procedure for the dealer to just activate the clown nose is posted on here as well.

9-thanx.

10-Just tell them to change "DWA" from "nicht_aktive" to "aktive" in the GM if you want the clown nose to blink. The tilt sensor is "NEIGUNGSGEBER" (change to aktive). Anyone that wants this or any other (well most depending on my knowledge of the German abbreviations) coding done and lives in the Austin area, I can do it for you and only charge a 12-pack.

11-I wish u were down here in Florida bro. I would give u a 24 pack.
So long story short : I stopped by the stealership this morning. And just like always. Everyone thinks am speaking Chinese. They kept trying to convince me that it can't be done. Finally they agreed to call the mechanic, he said that it can be done for 140 bucks plus tax. So I told them to kiss my a$$.

12-Bullsh!t. A week after I got my E46, I went back and had them activate the clown nose and the auto door lock for free. That's retarded.

END of thread.

Any help in digging out the code is appreciated.
