Benefits of metal charge pipe?

Hey, I have a BMW 435i, and was wondering if there is any real world benefits of upgrading the stock charge pipe to a metal chargepipe?

Appreciate any feedback and recommendations.

Thanks!

the main benefit is not being stuck on the side of the road or limping home.

Completely agree. Should really just go for it before your charge pipe blows. If you're planning to get on any mods, a chargepipe upgrade is one of the first things you should do.

I know VRSF is pretty popular in the states, but some say fitment sometimes become an issue. FTP is another popular one. I've got the Masata ones which are quite popular here in the UK, fitment is perfect for the N55. Other brands like Forge and MTC are quite well known too. Not sure if you have access to these brands?

Hey thanks for the suggestions. Been doing my own research and it looks like that would be the first thing I upgrade as well as a new intake. I dont want to have to deal with limp mode when the stock pipe burst.

I will definitely look into the Masata charge pipe you mentioned. Any ideas on where you can purchase them here in the States?

Most people do charge pipe upgrades with the intercooler instead. Intakes are generally just for sound, so I recommend getting the chargepipe and intercooler together. I think its generally better to run the same brand as a combo for better fitment too.

I'm not too sure about Masata in the US, maybe you could hit some dealers up? I think xph or kies might bring them in if you try? They do intercoolers too. Pretty sure shipping from the UK is crazy

Evolution Racewerks charge pipe has been one of the more popular choices as well. Suggest to consider it.

No reason to look for a UK chargepipe in the US. Zero advantage in doing that. Buy an FTP or Evolution Racewerks.

I have a couple of friends in the states that checked with Masata, seems like they're finding a US dealer soon

I have the FTP charge pipe on my 435. I got it for a little over $200 from Extreme Powerhouse. They provide great service and have the best prices, including 10% off this weekend.

For a stock vehicle? Not much. The stock pipe was revised. If your current pipe fails at say 80k miles why use anything but the stock setup? Will you hold on to the vehicle for another 100k miles?
