Exclamation F30 8.8" Panoramic to 6.5" Screen

Hi all, there are a lot of threads about how to upgrade a 6.5" to 8
8" panoramic screen for an F30 3 Series, but I am actually trying to do the opposite! I recently bought an F22 M240i and have taken the 8.8" screen out of the F30 and replaced the standard 6.5" in the F22. Following the other threads I've been able to successfully install and code the panoramic screen to work in the F22. But I'm having trouble coding the smaller screen to work in the F30, that originally came out of the F22.. By changing the following settings and coding it, the screen just has the backlight on with no image.

HU_NBT_EVO > 3001 EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE = schmales_display
HU_NBT_EVO > 3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG > CID_DISPLAY_RES = 800x480
HU_NBT_EVO > 3005 DISPLAY_PIP_CONFIG > CID_DISPLAY_SIZE = 6_5

It did display "No Signal" at one point but now it's just black. Hoping someone has some advice on something I'm missing?

should've kept the 8.8 but what are you using to code - bimmercode or esys? if you put the 8.8 back in, does it work?

I am going to sell the 3 series, and was planning on upgrading the F22 to the panoramic screen anyway, so to save some cash I just swapped them.

Using Bimmercode, and yeah I tried putting the 8.8 back in, reverted coding back to original and it worked flawlessly.

The 8.8 works in both cars, but the 6.5 only seems to work in the F22 and can't get the coding right for it to work in the F30.

Yeah I understand that but if i am a buyer, i would check the vin decoder and could find out that the car comes with 8.8” and if i see it become 6.5”, i would back out of the deal (unless you disclose it to any potential buyers about the switch).

I would not do that just to save few pounds and then lose big pounds on the F30 you are trying to sell.

Also just saw your coding, as far as i know, NBT EVO never comes with 6.5” screen, probably that’s why it doesn’t work because it is never meant to be.

Another thing is that NBT EVO is using apix2 screen while i believe all 6.5” screens are apix1 screen. If you want to make the screen work (assuming my first point above doesn’t apply), you need a voltage converter cable.

I wasn't planning on selling it privately, was just going to sell to somewhere like Arnold Clark - who don't go that in-depth to the infotainment system, they mostly just go by make/model/trim level/mileage and condition.

The 2018 F22 I have is NBT Evo and came with the 6.5" screen as standard, I'm not sure if it came in the F30 as the base option but surely if the headunits are the same it should still work?

check out realoem.com search the part number off the 6.5 and see if it's listed in both cars. It sounds like the cars may have used different 6.5 screens.

If they expect it to match the spec from the build sheet, and you've modified it to a lower spec, then would that not be fraud?

That’s what I was thinking, but he wants to save couple quids for a risk of getting fraud

Oh well, maybe law in Scotland is different than in States…

Law isn't significantly different in the UK.

But if he's part-exchanging it for something else from AC, then I'd be trying to make the deal as sweet as I could as well...as AC haven't got the best reputation in the UK
