as soon as I bought the 3.23.4, I got to learn that there's 3.24.2 and 51.x data available for a while. and no update from Andy will be available. what a pity!

You bought a solution from akiss to code your car, which as far as I know E-Sys 3.23.4 with 50.4 PSdZData works perfectly for you.

What exactly will you do with 3.24.2 that you can't do with 3.23.4? The answer is nothing, as 3.24.2 adds nothing.

What exactly will you code with 51.1 PSdZData, that you can't do with 50.4 PSdZData? The answer is nothing, as 51.1 adds nothing.

So, I don't really understand at all what the "pity" is. What exactly is pitiful?

reg 'for a while' - it is just a perception, as now I am learning from people in this hobby, and everyone wonders why i've got 3.23.4 as opposed to 3.24.2 everyone else has.

Theoretically, if the car will be serviced by 51.1, you won't be able to play with your 50.4, right?

it there no new defect fixes, or functionalities, why they would roll out a new version then? if not direct functionality, at least bug fixes make it to a new release.

Pitiful here is that you don't get the latest software although it is available.

As for the PSdZData, if the car is serviced by 51.1, you will need 51.1 or newer PSdZData. New PSdZData comes out about 8 times per year. So anytime anyone downloads PSdZData, it has a limited life. There is nothing that can be done about this, and it affects everyone of us alike. In most all cases, the new PSdZdata works with whatever E-Sys version one is using. However, I will tell you that it appears E-Sys 3.22.5 with akiss' patch / token will not work with the new 51.1 though, I am not sure about 3.23.4 yet, and that 3.24.2 works fine. TokenMaster's patchless solution seems to work fine though with 51.1 PSdZData and all versions of E-Sys.

As for E-Sys, if a new E-Sys is released that corrects known bugs, what value does it add unless you are actually affected by one of the bugs fixed? I am not aware of a single instance where someone has had to update there E-Sys from 3.23.4 to 3.24.2 because of a bug, or any other reason for that matter. The flip side of this argument is that if it isn't broke, don't fix it. For as many bugs that may be fixed in a new release, it could also introduce the same amount or more new bugs.

And, I don't know who "everyone" is, but I do know E-Sys 3.23.4 or lower is probably about 95% of the installed base, with 3.22.5 making up most of that, and until 51.1 rolled out, it has been working just fine for all, so this "everyone" must represent the the other 5%. I guess no one though among this group bothered to tell you that the latest is actually 3.24.3, which was released one month after 3.24.2:



The bottom line is it is, and always will be a perpetual game of cat and mouse to keep current with what BMW throws at us. When you obtain any E-Sys and PSdZData version, you have no reasonable expectation that what you have will still work after the car gets dealer programmed, and this is due to BMW, not anyone else. You have a nice car, so code it and enjoy it, and if and when it gets updated by the dealer, you can deal with it, even if it means obtaining new programs and files.

Didn't the instructions for obtaining the patch come with the links to download E-Sys and the PSdZData?

Hey guys, I went to code a '13 335 m-sport today (would make the fourth F30 I have coded so far) and it was very different from the ones I have normally coded. As far as options, it did not have nav, tech, Bluetooth, etc. so I am thinking a lot had to do with that. Any how, I was able to code the tpms pressure/temps fine except for the fact that there was no HU_CIC folder, I found it under a different name (HU_???). Whatever, it worked. Then I coded DRL taillights which also worked fine. When I went to code the folding mirrors, I was unable to read the coding for FEMBODy... I got an error saying the cad file was not found. I have Eys v3.23.4 and data files 50.3 so I assumed they were the most up to date. His car is a July '13 build and am not sure if this error is due to it being too new or something else. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Hi Shawn, thanks for further sharing. so now I learn that there's an alternate solution with a patchless approach. what is the cost then? would it be a more attractive solution for all newcomers to have that kind of flexibility? somehow I did not see this before and you were mentioning only "akiss's way". Ok I admit I am new here and didn't read every post on the internet about that, but still.

also if you would have developed the patch and were selling one, which Esys version would you prefer to distribute?

I think it is a normal behaviour to buy the latest versions whenever you buy a software, unless there's a specific need for an older version. Just IMHO.
