430 play in steering
My friend just bought a 2017 430 Grand Coupe. It has new tires on the back. When up to speed on the highway the steering floats from side to side. The wheel seems to have play and does not respond properly. You have to make constant corrections to keep it straight. She had an alignment done but did not fix the issue. Any ideas?

We dont know if its a new problem because she just bought the car. I will have her double check the tire pressure but it does not feel like that to me. Thank you for the response.

there is lot of issues with the F series steering racks, hardware and software. If you checked every basic thing like tyre pressures and everything you could check for play in de steering rack/steering rods, control arms and shocks. but these should be checked at the alignment. Following you can check at BMW for second opinion and/or a I-step firmware update regarding the steeringrack(200 dollars), on earlier models the steering racks were replaced due to issues.
following this post since im not happy too with the way the steering behaves on my 2018 GC. greetings J. |
