Seriously don't even consider the normally aspirated engine. The low down torque of the TSI makes it feel like a much faster car. I haven't looked at the torque figures but I know that the 115bhp version has 200Nm of torque vs 96Nm for the NA.

The 60hp with aircon is the same price as the 95hp with no aircon apparently. Love to know what the price difference is to add aircon to the 95hp car.

At least the depreciation on an £11k car won't be too bad when he sells the M2 and realises the 60hp Labia is absolutely hateful.

I had a 60bhp Polo a few years ago as a courtesy car, absolutely hated it.

I actually started to slow down going up Windy Hill on the M62 (highest motorway in UK) and had to knock it down to 4th.

Joining the M60 on an uphill section where the left hand two lanes go a direction I don't want to go, picking up enough speed to safely move other to the third lane in time for the split was nerve racking.

Not to encourage another North/South debate with Sennen, but maybe the lack of hills(and decent driving roads) and higher temperatures mean you Southern Fannies would prefer a 60hp AC Labia.
Hence the local runs...I'm not sure it would be my choice for a motorway runner for sure and your experience confirms that.

Do I go Fabia and GT3 or Audi Q7 and Mini Clubman

I completely forgot about the Up, I drove my sons ex's down to Cornwall a few years ago and i thought it was a cracking little car, the UP GTI might just fit the bill actually. Did you really rate it?

There's really zero call for the personal name calling in the last paragraph. It does you no credit. It steps far over the line from banter.

I think his point is fair, not many would consider that kind of daily with a weekend car of that budget. Most would be looking at a more balanced outcome and a more comfortable and enjoyable drive in the week. James Hunt used an A30 in the week and M23 at weekends, but none of us are living the James Hunt life. I doubt you are either, James would have had no time for a motoring forum between one totty stop and the next.

Not knocking the Fabia, just that the toss up between 95bhp or A/C is an unnecessary one. You're choice to make it that way, but unnecessary and not one that the majority of car enthusiasts would take.

If you bring a car choice to the forum, the idea is to have some banter and debate. God knows how many names I would have had to create for people if I took offence over the Disco being insulted

I have had both a Citigo Sport :-D (same as an up 60hp) and then a Fabia Mk3 (SEL 95hp)

Both great little cars, the Citio was a great fun little car, much more fun than the Fabia! Both were fine on the motorway easily keeping up with the traffic, you just need to plan your overtakes!!

The Fabia was giving me around 40mpg, the Citigo however I mostly averaged around 55 but saw 65 now and again! If I didn’t need space I would probably get the Citigo/Mi/Up over a Fabia.

Nice one on the legs, if it makes it funnier my eldest son might have the same neurological disorder. Just imagine two of us in our shorts walking onto the beach. What a hilarious sight that would be.

I can see how my comments might have riled you though, how dare I question or critique a choice of a 60 bhp daily driver on a car enthusiasts forum.

Just had a quick read of this thread and I wouldn't buy either. If you can afford to have something like a GT3 sat in the garage for special occasions you don't need to be saddling yourself with a low-end Fabia as a daily - stomp up the extra and get something like a 5-door Fiesta ST or Cooper S!

For someone who likes to portray the 'rich gentleman, who's loveably uncomfortable with technology' persona .... I feel you're forgetting the original brief of your character.

Zero need to name calling.

Enjoy the new car in good health.

If you're short of cash, we can chip in for the 95hp SE with aircon.

If those are your choices (the ones you are limiting yourself too), something's seriously wrong.

The Up GTI sounds a great shout, even a used one to bring the budget down a bit. Something about it would be a lot more special than a Fabia and will hold desirability when you sell it.

Alex I had no idea about any condition, but I believe you have shared some details previously. 'IF' he knew of your condition 'AND' wrote that with real intent, its an absolute disgrace and should see the lifetime ban applied. I'm shocked, sorry you had to read that.

I'm now 100% convinced the profile is a complete fraud and sad state of affairs he becomes by first 'blocked' in an 8 year Bimmerpost history and 20,000 posts! I guess the real person will persist in other guises.

I skim read this the other day and didn't really put 2+2 together. Disgraceful.

I only mentioned my skinny legs in the context of my disorder, so it’s unlikely that it would be missed.

I’m not that easily hurt by comments on a forum and don’t often find my blood boiling, it was just a surprise that he would turn to some kind of 1970’s playground name calling.

I still don't understand why someone who's looking at a GT3 as a toy for occasional use would be budget constrained to a Fabia (or an Up) as a daily driver?

I completely get the appeal of something small and handy for everyday use - and there are some very good ones out there that are also entertaining driver's cars - but a GT3 to a sub-100 bhp Fabia really is from the sublime to the cor blimey IMO...

This thread took an odd turn! So has Sennen disappeared now then? Perhaps 60bhp is so slow he's still trying to get home from the dealer?

Anyone who can afford a GT3 doesn't - or at least shouldn't - need financial help to buy a decent daily driver!
