Why are there no aftermarket options for diesel exhaust mods?
There seems to be a large hole where exhaust mods for diesel models should be. Does anyone have experience with manufacturers who service diesels?
Also, given the same modification hardware will a diesel engine of comparable size produce the same/similar kind of exhaust note, or something very different?

Also, modern diesel engine cars have DPFs (diesel particulate filters). Making a performance exhaust breathe efficiently through one of those is incredibly difficult.
It used to be the case that a lot of people would remove the internals of the DPF to assist airflow through exhausts. However, a lot of countries have introduced (in annual roadworthiness tests) a check on the DPF being installed and working as it should. Failure means your car is off the road until rectified, and a new DPF is not cheap. |

Thank you very much. I'll be in touch with Turner Motor Sport here in the U.S. They are a Supersprint distributor.

Remove DPF. It will help your engine for better braething.
But forget about the good exhaust sound especially on 4 cylinders.

So you mean A diesel is the fastest, not THE diesels.

The only one reason for buying diesel car is fuel economy.
I bought diesel by mistake( My next diesel would be only SUV. Not sedan.

So how do you remove DPF without ruining your BMW?

Please order exhaust doesn't have a muffler in this case.
You will not get a change of a sound inside the car at all, but outside it will be more sportier. If you decide to go with a muffler version, all you get is a better look. I also ordered a supersprint (the muffler version 4x pipes), but wasn't able to wait for such a long time and cancelled the order. I did a custom exchaust for 550 $ (6 hours of work), and the sound became really nice. No youtube video will show it really, it is absolutely not loud(the kids can sleep on the rear seat) Last edited by Fstep; 06-09-2014 at 09:00 AM.. |

Per the issues I am having here, AC Schnitzer came back saying that they didn't originally think it would be an issue. When I asked what they could/would do to make it work, the response was that they aren't touching it unless there are a minimum of 30 on order. Guess that means I am going elsewhere...to the credit of the ACS guy I've been working with, he is super apologetic and recommended to me that I give up on them for the exhaust based on the HQ's response.
That being said...does anyone know if the F30 diesels rely on the muffler for any of their backpressure? Is a muffler delete an option for us in the US? If so, I may look at that, but will still be constrained by the DEF tank for the fitment of the pipes on the right side. I think it'll be too tight to run a pipe there and turn 90-degrees without hitting some interference. Does anyone know what other rear skirts/diffusers would fit on the F30 body? I am trying to get away from the single sided exhaust cutout, but think the dual sided that is designed for the F30 will have the right side immediately below the DEF tank. The M-series skirts/diffusers seem to have the pipe cutouts brought more toward the center, but I am not sure if they fit on the 328d. Thoughts? |

Sorry mate for not getting back to you, I've been traveling. I will contact SuperSprint AGAIN to see where they're at. I think I tried in September and the answer was still "we'll check into it with Italy".
