WTB: open-pore Carbon trim insert m sport steering wheel

Hey,

Looking for the open pore Carbon fiber Y shaped insert that replaces the silver one on the m-sport steering wheel. The piece you get on the upgraded alcantera wheel. Is it possible to buy that oem piece and install myself?

Thanks!

Yes you can order that piece from dealer and cost is around $250 for the carbon.

Will that piece work on a regular m-sport wheel?

As Zamboni noted, it is possible and a very easy install. However, you can't just pop out the silver part of the trim and place the carbon in (the silver pops out easily enough, but the carbon tabs aren't free and will break if pried out of the piece they come in). I know, because I tried this way initially and broke some tabs. Glued it back together and it works just about perfectly once I did the install properly, and if I'd spent more time on the gluing, I'm sure it'd be 100%.

I'll sell you my piece (I can send pictures if interested) and if you're worried about installation, I can even do a video of when I replace it.

Let me know.

Are you selling yours? PM me your price. Might consider it as long as the broken tabs aren't an issue. Also wondering if it'll fit my 235 m sport steering wheel. Looks identical in the pic.
