Looks great! This would definitely go head to head with the Model 3.
So is this supposed to preview the shape and some design cues for the new 3 series?

It's a big car (the concept is 6 inches longer than a 3) and don't forget there is a gap for the i4...!! |

Outside of the slightly oversized grill, I love most of the lines of the concept. I'm sad to see the angel eyes going away, but these raptor claws don't look bad either.
Depending on final performance/price, I could see this car being the first serious contender to Tesla. |

They're not exactly shooting for the stars on the numbers. That's basically a Tesla Model S 100D right now.
373 miles (600 km) in a Euro press release is usually the non-sensical NEDC cycle. Probably closer to 300 miles real-world/EPA |

Grill is more Kia than BMW and just awful, but the rest of it is better than expected. Hope those tail lights make production.

Kia grille like than the grill. That's more bugs bunny. Or a giant butt print. Overall yes a step in the right direction and as I thought they would they created a style with the I brand to get noticed as a design exercise and now refining the design cues just like the flame styling back in early 2000's remember how hated it was when first hit the streets. |

I know there are a lot of SUV haters but with the market going there when is someone going to finally do a compact(ish) electric SUV? We don't need another electric sedan.

We don't need another electric. Ev sales continue to languish worldwide. Including plug in hybrids, which is a bulk of the sales, there's on't 500k sales worldwide of ev vehicles this year. F150 pickups sold in the US have outsold all ev cars and all plug in hybrids combined worldwide so far this year and every other year. Model 3 sales are at a whopping 105 total units sold. Good job tesla.

So if I want to buy an electric car why does it have to not look like a normal car??

The shape is very nice - this has some potential.
Not a fan of the headlights or wheels, but those would probably be toned down for production anyway.
