Odd Dirt Build Up By Lower Doors!?

This is a two folded question. For some reason, I have this weird dirt build up, almost like a black smudge around the basically front door hinge (it's the lowest lip at the bottom of the car) and goes up into the door hinge. It's odd, and always appears.

Second question, I was unfortunately t boned (right rear passenger, into wheel well) and my car is disgustingly dirty (it drives me nuts). Should I suck it up, and wait for it to be washed, or wash it now!?

There are a couple weep holes along the bottom door edges where cosmoline can drip out on hot days. It's usually a tan color but if your car is really dirty it could turn black quickly as it is very sticky.

Yes, it's cosmoline, on white cars it seems really bad.

Wash that car, you'll have the chance to really inspect the car that way too.

Go into the drain holes with a Q-tip and try to clear out as much cosmoline as you can. Even then, it will continue to ooze out over time until it's all gone.

Yep...attracts dirt and looks almost like black grease....bottoms of doors and weeps out of holes under hood. I believe its rust proofing that melts under extreme heat.
