Day time pics...
Dealer's referred auto body shop quoted me around $600 with referral discount (MSRP $900). I still think it's steep. |

That sounds about right. I had very similar damage on my 08 e92 5 years ago and it was $550.

Yea, after looking at the new pics I don't think this will work on the big mark. The Scratch X product is meant for tiny scratches and paint scuffs, etc. That looks kind of deep.

A body shop can fix and spot paint that easily. That's an inexpensive fix, and $600 is too much for a re-spray of your rear bumper. You will not need an entirely new bumper cover.

Scratch X won't do much, since it went through paint.
You should still try buff it with some sort of compound to get rid of little marks that aren't deep. You might able to "get by" until you have enough fund to fix the bumper. Please don't go cheap on this because whoever paint your bumper doesn't do a good job on paint match can ruin your whole bumper. I strongly advise you to take to a reputable shop to get it painted. |

It all depends how perfect you want the car. It's brand new, so it stands out like a sore thumb. Personally I'd pick a shop and have it fixed. A BMW certified shop is the way to go, they match that color all the time and are going to be competive price wise. Good luck. |

EDIT: sorry about the dirty car. It's been raining a lot lately here in the Seattle area. |

Looks good! I also think that it was way too expensive...
Last week I had my car taken in to repair a scraped front fender which was my fault (it necessitated removing half of my clear bra, which thankfully reduced the severity of the scrape). I also had a scrape on exactly the same contoured edge of the rear bumper where yours was scraped (only on that specific edge and no scratches below this line as in your case). I didn't bother fixing it for a while and when I had to take the car in for the front fender I obviously decided to fix this too. The authorized BMW repair shop quoted me $150 for the front fender (including removing the clear bra) and fixed the rear scratch for free! They said that they would just pencil it in (whatever that means). It looks perfect right now! |
