M performance exhaust

I have a dual resonator delete and am looking at upgrading to either a MPE or just the MPE muffler. I noticed while looking around that there seems to be 2 version of the MPE? I see cars that came with MPPSK have a muffler with an embossed M performance logo. While the BMW M performance catalog shows me a polished stainless muffler with an etched M performance logo. Is there any difference between these 2 units?

MPPSK is a cat back exhaust system with electronic valve for sound.

MPE is an axle back muffler with no valve for sound.

Okay thank you I see that now. Didn't realize there was no valve. Catback system is definitely the way to go.

Also comes with a factory tune. U cant separate the tune from the exhaust. Runs about $4K usd with install

AHCKTUALLY you CAN buy the MPPSK exhaust (with valves and all) seperate from the tune. Here is a link: https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...b3J5IFBhZ2U%3D

Now, whether or not it can actually be installed and function without the tune, IDK. I do know that a BM3 license comes with the MPPSK flash as a free OTS tune you can use, so I suppose it should be possible to buy just the muffler, install it, and then use BM3 to get your proper flash.

This is incorrect, the MPE axleback actually does retain the OEM valve. I had it before I upgraded to AWE.

Note that MPE is a relatively quiet and conservative exhaust option overall.

That is partially true because it only applies to the N55 engines on the F30. The B58 340i (2016 - 2018 US models) does not have a valved MPE axleback exhaust. Only the MPPSK is valved as others have indicated.
