AH3 Transmisson Problems (ActiveHybrid3)
I’m in a predicament here. I’ve had my AH3 since 44k (CPO) and I’m at 88k. My CPO warranty (5 years, 100k miles) just expired June of 2019. I hear some whining at different revs, and hear a lot more electric noise when shifting from park to drive to reverse etc. I also have slippage sometimes in gears 2 and 5. I took it into my local BMW for them to diagnose it. A day later, they called saying it was a transmission issue (internal problems) that was causing slippage between gears. They wouldn’t go into any more detail than saying internal problems and their recommended fix would be to replace the entire transmission. They said there was on new one in the US and that parts and labor would be 19k. Astounded by the price, I took my car home and it’s been sitting ever since because i really can’t drive it the way it is. Has anyone else ever come across tranny problems? I feel like 19k is more than the car is even worth at this point.
I did run BM3 stage 2 for a while ~10000 miles, but made sure to flash back to stock before bringing it to dealer. Left my Dinan intake, Vrsf intercooler, vrsf charge pipe, exhaust, and cat less down pipe on though, and they did make note of it. In this case, what would you guys do? Sell the car for a substantially lower amount than it’s actually worth? Get a second opinion not from BMW? |

try and find a local shop to do the work. it will be dramatically less expensive. otherwise... trade it in and move on
