Holy thread resurrection batman!

20mpg over what engine and usage? City driving, short runs and aggressive driving would give this.

For comparison:
My 340i does ~17mpg nipping to the shops, 2 miles of town driving.
But, ~38mpg on a 2h drive to visit the in laws.
Also, 25-35mpg on my 12 mile mixed commute, depending on traffic.

Averaging 31.3 over 17k... See fuelly signature.

So, 20mpg does seem low, if you're talking U.K. mpg and mixed driving.

You need to give more info for us to understand.

There is something not quite right - if its under BMW warranty, get it back into the garage. They are really good when the car is within warranty and will also help if its outside warranty, particularly if its stayed within the dealer network.

Did a 140 mile round-trip yesterday. 60% on motorway (Sport mode), 40% country roads (Comfort mode). 37.1 MPG. I drive as fast as the speed limit and conditions allow. Let's say I have a heavy right foot. Air-con is set on permanently. That mpg is not at all unusual for my average driving.

I drive approximately 25 miles per day mainly highway not much racing going on
In this LA traffic in the day time some days are lighter then others I'd say steadily 60mph or little less and more at night no traffic 70mph on comfort mode all the time I don't see how others are getting 30+ mpg and im between 19-20 right now I've been driving in eco pro since I filled the tank and I have exactly 1 quarter left at 230 miles driven and I'm driving slow as shit after this tank I'm going sport

Just purchased 2015 bmw 320i
42k miles

Surely that's the wrong way round. I would have thought that Comfort on the motorway and Sport on country roads would make more sense?

Suits my style of driving, I actually drive on Comfort almost permanently, only changing to Sport when on the motorway where I appreciate the better response from the throttle.

Around 70 % of my driving is for fun - so a fair amount of time everything is in sport . 27 mpg in 328i auto. It's better than my previous cars ( six cylinder cars).

This is a post in the UK forum and were talking UK mpg.

One Imperial Gallon (UK) is approximately 1.2 US Gallons. So, expect our claims to be ~20% higher than like for like US usage. Also, we run 95-99 Ron (octane) fuel, which should improve efficiency.

However, you're still only talking ~24 uk mpg. This still seems low for 'highway' usage. On highway like runs I'd expect 35+ uk mpg form my car.

I have a 328i auto

In the last 2 years and 25k miles my OBC average is 39.3mpg which is pretty accurate.

I actively avoid short journeys and probably 75% of its use is my 24 mile commute which is 60% motorway and reasonably clear roads elsewhere.

It's generally driven with economy in mind but does occasionally get driven in a spirited fashion. I usually do 65-80 on the motorway traffic permitting

So pretty economical overall although short journeys will take their toll

Best ever in Eco Poo on my way home with a clear run, ie not having to stop, was 54mpg ! But I would never drive like that normally.
