Can't add my car in BMW ConnectedDrive

Hi,

When I try to add my car in my ConnectedDrive account I always get a error saying that it's not possible to add the car to my account.

If I try to add the car through the BMW Remote App I get an error saying "Unable to connect to the BMW server".

Can this be related to the previous owner still has the car linked to his ConnectedDrive account? Is it possible to unlink it without his consent since I'm the new owner now? Can the dealer do this?

I've just had the same thing. I had to ring up customer service and have the car added manually. I had an issue where the remote dashboard kept trying to send the "Unlock" command despite the car receiving it and completing the instruction. I was advised to remove the car and try to re-add. When I came to re-add it, I could not. The reason mine could not be re-added was that it was an older F30 (2012) so the car could not receive the verification code (or that is what customer services told me).

I'm no expert but maybe you are right in that the previous owner may still have it registered on their account? Maybe give customer services a call? My experience with them was mixed as only one person out of all the people I spoke with seemed to understand the connected drive system.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm going to try BMW customer service tomorrow.
I hope they can add the car manually.
I've been thinking, why should I try to add the car to my ConnectedDrive account? I don't have BMW Apps so I guess it's pointless no?

Sorry to revive an old post, but I've got a similar problem. Bought my car new on Dec 31, dealer incorrectly added me to Connecteddrive, (misspelled my email address when registering me). I've called BMW assist and Connecteddrive a couple times. They told me they corrected my email address, but it will take up to three weeks for them to "reset the back end" or some crap. After which I will be able to add my car to my account.

Well, going on three weeks now, haven't heard a peep, try to add the car every other day or so. Feeling pretty frustrated.

Has anyone else run into a "yea, it'll take up to three weeks to have our techs reset your back end" line?

I feel like I'm getting it in the back end alright!

I got the same thing from them and it did take a few weeks. (why, I have no clue) It took two calls to change it correctly and now I am stuck not being able to add my car. Four calls to them and I still have nothing to show for it. Glad I didn't use this crap until now! Looks like I'll have to call again to add the car manually?

My car is registered in the settings, but never shows up in the App or on the welcome page of the website. When I e-mailed the support link in the app to ask about it, I got this response:

Functionality with my 2013 335xDrive ceased with the latest app rev (4.0.560.14). It disconnected from my car. When I try to add it back, the message, "In order to add a vehicle, you must own a 2014 or new BMW..." A cheesy ploy to prod new car purchase?

Pity, the ability to send destinations to the car's nav, especially since I went for the heads-up display, was really handy.

I have not been able to add my car to MyBMW or login to BMW Remote for several months (since I bought the car). I get the same message each time I call that someone is working on it and someone will give me a call. Right! Such an unbelievable PITA!

Same situation for the most part. I decided to call again and they had my email incorrect yet again. I asked why no one could understand a simple email and I was told they're backlogged, maybe someone was rushing trough it. Nice to hear....:/ Now I get to wait another 2-3 weeks!!!!

I found that customer service was nothing shy of useless in this regard. It's like they have this magical new "connected drive" functionality, that NOBODY at BMWNA has a clue about.

I got the "Oh... you're from CANADA... Ughhh... That's a lot more work" WTF? I ended up going back to my dealership, and my sales guy reset it for me. Email and phone directly to BMW was a colossal waste of time (at least in Canada).

LOL, I got that too. On top of not being able to add my car to MyBMW account and use my BMW remote app, I have never been able to receive texts or e-mails through my car as well.

My wife's Samsung S5 seems to work fine. My Sony Xperia X3 will show a message folder on NAV ONLY when a text is received while I'm in the car. If it was received and not read before I entered the car, it shows nothing.

No email indication ever shows up for my phone. I can go into the connected office, and see there are read/unread emails, but incoming ones show no notifications on the NAV.

Yeah, that was completed when I purchased the car, but obviously it was never activated. After 5 months of dealing with my dealer and BMW, they have it all fixed.

I had the same thing and my dealership said connect the phone to Bluetooth and it will fire across a code to your phone.
It did and hey presto the connected app worked.

I discovered I couldn't add my vehicle because it was already added. Once you are logged into the app you can select "More" then "Profile." There's an URL (https://www.bmwusa.com/MyBMWConnectedDrive) to make changes to your personal information which includes email. I'm sure you can just go to the URL without logging into ConnectedDrive. Once I logged into the website and selected "Add Vehicle," I noticed my car was already added.

Just wanted to add I had a similar issue when trying to set up a "secondary subscriber" user account. I couldn't add my vehicle manually entering the vin #.

What resolved it for me was following the iOS app instructions suggesting to connect to the vehicle via USB. This allowed me to add the vehicle to my account and then was asked if designating as the primary or secondary user.

I still had some issues connecting through the cloud/network as it finished confirming my account, but when it would ask to "try again" it worked on the 2nd attempt.

...for what it's worth.

Mine isn't retrofitted but I just went online, tried to login then failed. I then called BMW Connected Services about 4 times, waited 11 months and now it works. What a joke that was but at least the app works now along with the rest.

I'm having a similar issue, connected drive seems to be disabled in the car no functionality, added the car to my connected drive portal and it's requesting I confirm the security code sent to the car, however the car isn't receiving anything.

I've sent them email tonight so lets see what they say.
