any tire rotation for F30?
My OEM Pirelli P7 tires went 32k miles without rotation.
My 2nd set of tires(being Driveguard) went 24k with one rotation(as part of a nail repair), with 5/32 to 6/32 left. It appears BMW now allows tire rotation starting 2016(or 2015?). In my 2013 owner's manual it says no tire rotation. So do you guys rotate tires? |

I always rotate my winter setup which is 18in square every yr when swapping them on
Don't rotate my 19in staggered summer setup for obvious reasons, but I would always rotate a square setup

I rotate yearly. It may not help, but by the time uneven wear becomes obvious enough to see the damage is done. I use the opportunity to thoroughly examine the brakes with the wheels off the car.

Yes, I rotate every 5-10k as per my tire manufacturer warranty.

I typically rotate every other oil change, so that’s 12k for me.

Any insights on best rotation patterns? Obviously, if the tires are directional, you can only go front to back, back to front, but for non-directional, do you do any left-right rotations?

Americastire rotated my non-directional tires rear to front same side, and front to rear cross side(rearward cross). It smooths out the feathering, although handling is affected a bit for first 50-100 miles.

I only go front to back, because it's a PITA to lift all four wheels, and I'm too lazy to swap front to back first and then switch side to side with the rears. As for feathering, if you have any you need an alignment.

After rear cross rotation, the tires feel smooth both clockwise and counter clockwise. What is this called? |

Back when I was a tech, they taught us to basically cross the non-driven wheels (for non-directional tires). So on a RWD car, rear tires would go straight forward, fronts would go to the back on opposite sides. On a FWD car you would do the opposite. For directionals, straight forward and straight back.

I spent the last 11 years as a UHP Education Specialist for Bridgestone.
If the tires are directional (with arrow) front to back only for square setup. Staggered no rotation. Symmetrical and asymmetrical square is cross to drive. Meaning cross front to the rear and rears move straight forward. Staggered move tires side to side. Rotate every 5,000 miles. This will give even wear and lessen wear patterns which cause noise and vibration. Balance every 15,000. |

How should one rotate tires on an xdrive square setup?
When i took the driveguards off and put on my winter setup, I marked each wheel with previous location so I could rotate correctly after winter. |
