I have a muffler delete so I'm more of a fan of modifying the muffler over the resonators. If you want to make it a little louder, swap axlebacks. If you get one with a flap actuator like stock then it'll be even more quiet when cruising.

I wish there was a way that I could modify the stock mufflers without affecting the stock flaps.

Although, if I changed out axle backs (to something louder with a flap), I would still have increased sound regardless in any mode, including Comfort.

So my goal is to not affect the quietness of my current Comfort mode, but allow for the exhaust to be become a Beast while in any other mode; Sport, Sport +.

There is a way, here I drew you something in paint
I'm gonna do the same thing on mine in a few weeks.
Weld a pipe from main line pre muffler to behind the valve.

You will have the best of both worlds, quiet in conform and muffler bypass in sport

Dude. This is the best post on the thread!!!! Question is: is there any objects in the way of this new pipe? Is the valve tight enough to hold direct exhaust gas hitting it when it's closed?

Hoping someone can look over these logs and tell me if I'm good, or if something needs to be looked into by PTF

FWIW, I haven't noticed anything from a drivability perspective that isn't a lot better than stock, but it looks like I'm getting some reduced boost on WOT, and I also noticed a couple of situations where a knock was detected. Is the gas really that bad in my area? I only use chevron or costco gas

Submitted a ticket but haven't heard back yet.

No not really but you need to get the pipe bent at a muffler shop and have it connect in the "Y" est possible way to the main pipe and sneak it around the trunk bin. and yes the valve is a champ.. this butterfly valve once closed is seated with flow and flow will only help it seat better, it does not go round and round and round.

I think I don't need an M Performance exhaust anymore!!! I have one of the best exhaust fabricotors and welders here in Orlando! I'm going to go for it!

I do have M-Sport exhaust.

I'm trying to understand what you're suggesting.

It looks like this:

It looks like this:
The MPPSK exhaust already bypasses muffler on valve open:

The Mperformace muffler does not have a valve on one side like the stock one does

The stock muffler has on valve

There is no current muffler which corresponds to your drawing.

Which do you have?

I found it.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=18_1289

It's very close to my drawing. My mistake, my midpipe goes into my resonator (front), and then two pipes come out (back) from there into my muffler.

damn, then in your case I guess the only way to increase sound would be to get a different muffler, not much you can do with the MPPSK setup in terms of mods.

Oh sorry! My bad... you have an X3 ! ok that explains it

Then yes you can mod to weld behind valves and move the valves closer to the exit of the exhaust similar to what the MPPSK has

Yes!

Well, wait a min, don't I have "MPPSK"? When I ordered it, I got all the M-sport options, including the exhaust upgrade...

Where you circled in red is where the valve already is. What would I need to weld behind it? Another pipe?

Yes you weld a pipe ( in black) from main line to behind the valve ( behind the valve as in between muffler canister to valve)

the X3 upgrade may not be the same as on on F30/32 car.
I'm not super familiar with the options but you can work with it to make it louder

any flashes from any vendors even a stage 1 would destroy mppsk

Thanks for explaining, with all due respect, what's the point of that?

One pipe is still going to be louder/more free flowing than the other one (like it already is) due to only having a single exhaust valve, if that makes sense.
