Shortened sway bar end links
I have a f31, was installing ACS springs tomorrow and was told stock end links work, but was looking to see the best shortened ones to compensate for the ride height drop, and to eliminate and preload.
I know i've seen someone post some double adjustable ones before but looked a bit extreme, was wondering if theres a more oem looking option or fit and if anyone knew sizing? I'm guessing they're shorted by the length of the drop? so about 1"? edit: looking on real oem it appears between base model/m sport they share the same part number. I just placed an order for them, have you put them against the OEM links to see the size difference? please let me know if you have done this

I went with fixed links as well. Made by MEYLE. Much better than OEM in just about every way.

This was my exact purchase from ECS Tuning.
They appear to be the same length as OEM. |

i'm trying to figure out if it's actually necessary or not now, because the mounting point on the strut hasn't changed. this is confusing Last edited by 328iX; 03-18-2019 at 07:05 PM.. |

Most people who are lowered are running OEM length end links. Thats because most dont change them at all. I went with the toughest replacement part I could find. Looks comparable to the fixed link that @obert linked above.

I cancelled my order, it doesn't appear necessary as the mounting point on the strut isn't changed, the car sits lower due to the springs, not a moved position of the sway bar or different mounting point |

I think we need to figure out if the mounting points on aftermarket (shorter) shocks are a different distance from sway bar than the stock shock.
In theory they would be but Im not positive that is the case. The manufacturer could easily move the mounting point upwards on the shock to compensate. |

If the distance is smaller, then a shorter end link would make sense. I get your point.
I do wonder how much of an impact an inch or two in either direction would have on performance of the sway bar? You mentioned pre loading which makes sense in general but Im no engineer and to be honest not sure of the actual impact on the cars handling. |

1. We change the positioning or angle of the endlink mounting tab. 2. We change the height of the mounting tab, therefore changing the length of the endlink itself. Nothing to do with the height of the vehicle as the end link is at a fixed position on the body of the strut regardless of how high or low your springs are |
