Sweet Jesus I thought this was concept stuff that would never see the light of day.

BMW are literally ruling themselves out my buying plans based on looks alone.

Everything about that render looks great except the absolute mess that are the grilles... I have no idea what has led to BMW's current thinking and trends for their grilles, but I think they have spoiled otherwise quite nice designs with them...

BMW used to make handsome cars. The F82 M4, E52 Z8, F13 6 Series, E46 M3, E92 M3 Coupe etc. There comes a time however when tastes change, things move on, and a new generation of buyers dictate the market. I'll admit I find the new designs unattractive, but BMW will still sell boat-loads of them and I'll be the one who moves on to something else. Who knows what I'll get next, but I'm not disappointed because I'll hopefully get something that's a step up from what has been a great benchmark for me - the F30 340i.

It wouldn't be too hard for BMW to have 2 versions of this car with different grilles. The UK and other similar markets could have some body coloured panels within the grille frame to reduce the apparent size, and China etc can have the full clown car version...

Has anyone else noticed that grill shape is 'force repeated' on other parts of the car too, like around the B pillars just to hammer home the design language!

By the way thats on the iNext not on the G80 but there subtle beauty and then, yeah there's that. I mean there isn't any need to do this. it adds cost and detracts from the looks in my opinion.....but it matches the grill. Wow does it really need to. Same to for the repeated rhomboids now on BMW exterior and interior. It really doesn't need too.

More worryingly, if you took out the bit in the middle it wouldnt be dissimilar to the Audi grille....

The next step guys, you are all heading for Audi lookalikes...

The back end is already very Audi esque...

I wasn't sure about the 7 LCI, but saw one in B&Q car Park yesterday. Thought it looked much better than pictures show.

I was trying to figure out what was bugging me apart from that god awful grille, and the other big thing that looks horrendous is the way the bonnet lines continue beyond the bonnet.

The new 3 series is a joke, if you see one in white or silver and it has the black grills.....

WTF have they done in one single generation of car? The F3X was a handsome car right out of the box, this latest car from some angles just looks daft.

I was going to order one...
