2 year uk service
Hi,
A quick question i am struggling to get answered from the dealers. I purchased a 320i GT X Drive which says it was first registered Mar'14 but the car says it needs its first service Dec '15. I have only done 5k miles so its not that. I guessing the car was made or the infotainment system in Dec 13 and that it took 3-4 months for it to be shipped - sold and registered. So to maintain the warranty should i service the car in Dec '15 or wait until Mar '16. I have of course rung around a few dealers who seem to have no idea and some day dec 15 and some say mar 16. Also anyone from London, UK have any feedback for a decent bmw Service place as so far i have had shocking service from a few dealers when i tried to buy new so went to a 1 year old 2nd hand and thought i had cracked it but still had shocking after sales so im looking for a new place to take it to. Hi Jed,
As your GT is equipped for CBS (condition based servicing) you should also see, when switching on the ignition, how many miles to next service showing between the 2 main dials on the dash. However, what I would say is that earlier this summer my 328i GT was showing 4000 miles to service (on start up as above), but under service requirements in the iDrive it showed first service due 07/2015. I queried this with my dealer and was told to go by the 07/2015 figure as that was 2 years since the car was built. So that is what I did. It really made no difference to me as I have the service pack with the car. But you may not, of course have that. Hope this helps.

Hi, Cheers Alan.
Yes it says 6000k miles or 12/2015 when i start up the car but the car was not first registered/purchased until 03/2014. Its odd as i was under the impression that it was 2 years since the car was first purchased. You are correct i do not have the service pack with this car so i don't want to lose what could be 4 months of driving without paying for an oil change. The confusing thing is that some dealers say its the date from purchase and some say its the date of manufacture. I have emailed BMW customer service but no reply so far from them as i would like something in writing to avoid a warranty invalidation. Anyone else? Cheers |
