Can someone help with one question
If I have the bootmod3 app on my iPhone the only way to see live data when driving normally is to have the WiFi device or the enet cable connection so essentially I would need my laptop hooked up constantly or use the WiFi device correct ?
Is there an adapter to use my iPhone to enet ?

Currently the only "agent" Middle man between the car and phone is the Laptop or the BM3 WIFI device...

I am patiently waiting for them to come out with an adapter or have the "agent" baked into the phone as some of their competitors have done already... this is almost a deal breaker for me because I hate using the laptop and the WIFI agent is a pain.

I was considering MHD as well since they have a WiFi obd plug device but bootmod3 has more tunes to choose from and more people seem to be using it
Guess I could just grab a JB4 till bootmod3 has a better option

They confirmed in the facebook group that you can plug in a USB directly to the wifi device from your phone. It's much more reliable than the wifi hotspot method and you don't have to have a cable going across your legs like with an enet cable. Just plug it into your armrest or wherever it is.

True but you still need the Enet cable.

The Enet cable will still be plugged into the OBD port of the car then into the RJ45 jack on the WIFI device.

OBD>WIFI device>phone using USB charge cord
WIFI device> to car USB for power

WIFI device has multiple USB inputs (power and phone)

Ok that’s pretty easy
I have my phone plugged into the usb in armrest so basically just plug the WiFi into that for power and my phone into the WiFi agent then I can see everything I want via the app

I had problems activating my car, OBD agent could not connect with it.
I sent a screen shot to support and literally in less than 5 minutes they replied and offered to remote in to take a look.
It was scheduled for today but i missed it due to time zone confusion, Serge was so kind to reschedule. Turned out to be a silly mistake of me (connection settings - i thought i already checked but...)

All i am saying is, although i have not even driven my car yet after the flash i am a happy customer already.
Thanks for the great support.

I will be going out in a few hours to test, when the traffic clears up

Sick! When are the newest iterations of the B58 OTS maps coming out?

I want to know, if I tune to the OTS map with stage 1 91 octane, will there be any hesitation in shifting or whatsoever for city driving?

Bruh. Just do it. You will not regret it at all. It'll be so good, you'll go to stage 2 lol.

The revs jump a little higher when you turn the car on, and it burbles a bit.

Nope, if anything you'll have a much smoother city driving experience. Comfort mode is now refined enough it can be used for daily use, I end up using it for most of my commute unless I really want to get on the car.

Issue with B58 Stage 1

I have an issue with the stage 1 91 octane map on my B58 440i. My car is all stock apart from a 3” cat back straight pipe, stock cat. With the stage 1 map in standard mode, everything is perfect, but I recently made some modifications – I changed burbles from OEM to OTS, Max Cooling Mode to ON and Cold Start to OFF. After flashing these changes, I noticed that when I hit the gas to accelerate (hard or lightly) there is a hesitation before it accelerates and it feels down on power. Almost like boost is cut. This happens too when shifting gears in WOT, when you change up a gear the for the first second or two of being in that gear it hesitates before putting down any power. If I flash back to the standard stage 1 91 octane OTS map the issue goes away.

I’ve attached some data logs below that show the issue happening with the stage 1 config’d map, and the issue not happening on the standard stage 1 map. The only thing I can see that looks different is that in the data log where the issue occurs, the WGDC drops for the first few seconds of third gear. It doesn’t seem to do this in the data log where its working fine.

http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5dbad9f4c090c63fb7ba59ef – Stage 1 map with no configuration. Normal and working. Gentle acceleration in second and shift into third.

http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5dbad680c090c63fb7ba59e2 – Stage 1 map with configuration changes mentioned above. Gentle acceleration in second, when shifting into third I hit the gas a bit more. Feels like the car is in limp mode for a couple seconds and then it starts accelerating OK.

Any ideas what is going on?

Hopefully, others can chime in but never hurts to open a ticket with PTF and let them look at the logs as well.

You need to redo your logs. Do a WOT pull from 2k rpm-7k and shift. You can shift earlier if it's easier. At a minimum, you need to keep the accelerator pedal in the same position. You're at 30% throttle, shift, then jump to 70% throttle. That doesn't give us useful data.

At the beginning of the first log, you're at partial throttle but the revs drop briefly. Are you going up a hill or something? Otherwise you have slip somewhere (tires, transmission, etc.).

On your 2nd log, you're seeing what I see in sport mode. The throttle mapping can change such that pushing the pedal halfway can open the throttle angle to 100%.

Also on your 2nd log you shift at a lower RPM.

So in general you need the two logs to be apples to apples. Same pedal position, same shift points, etc. If you're not manually shifting, then it looks like the car is shifting earlier and so it takes a minute to rebuild boost from a lower rpm. Of course it'll have more torque readily available after the shift if you're shifting at a higher RPM. But it's hard to say for sure.
