Looking at Buying a used 435i

I'm new here and am considering a used 435i Gran Coupe m-sport. I am looking to buy a 2015 or newer and most I have seen have pretty low mileage and a few months left on the factory warranty. How do you feel about buying used? I've bought 95% of the 20 cars I've owned used. Some were better than others but none of them was a true lemon. I'm used to doing my own maintenance but it seems bmw require quite a bit more. It seems the parts have a lower expiration date than asian cars. So what are your thoughts on buying a used bmw?

Always have a budget prepared when buying so that if something goes wrong you will be able to fix it, i bought my 335i 3 weeks ago from a enthusiast who took great care of the car so i am lucky. If it has factory warranty you should be fine to get anything checked out at the dealer and also get a pre purchase inspection. Id say have around 500-1000$ in budget JUST INCASE. I hope your buying experience with the car goes well and you seem experienced in used car buying so i'm sure you will be okay. All in all I believe it depends on the previous owner thats why knowing the previous owner would be beneficial to gauge how he took care of the car

I bought my 2015 435i GC as a CPO car last year. It was a lease return, had under 30K miles and six months of factory warranty plus a year CPO. I paid less than half of what it cost new, and the only issue I've had was a minor issue with a speaker. BMW CCA even sent me a $250 rebate check. No regrets, would do it again.

I have mixed feelings. I recently sold a 2-year-old F32 340 that was low mileage and great condition. I found I need 4 doors. I took a big hit for depreciation in the first 2 years. If I bought that used car, I would think used cars are a great option. A couple of weeks ago, a guy posted asking how to "fix" a convertible where he had left it open through a big rainstorm. He estimated that he tool 50 litres of water out and the electronics were screwed up. Most suggestions was to contact his insurance carrier. The car would likely end up with a flood-damage title. He ended up getting it working and planned to sell, His position was that his actions were normal. If I bought that car and all the without any disclosure electronics failed after a month, I would have a different opinion.

I bought a CPO 435i GC M Sport with 33k miles a few weeks ago and i'm glad I got a CPO. Found some other options at used car lots but I think CPO is the way to go. BMW does a full service for CPO cars and the 30k service done on my car included an oil change and a brake job which included new pads all around, new front rotors, and resurfaced rear rotors. This would have been an expensive job on the optional M sport brakes my car has. BMW also replaced all the tires with brand new ones. Granted they were the factory goodyear runflats but still brand new tires was a nice bonus. You can check the vehicle's car fax and have your sales guy call the servicing/reconditioning department to see what was done at the dealership. CPO also extends the factory warranty for 1 more year after the original expires. So my car is under warranty until spring 2020.

I found a couple of similar spec'd cars at regular used car lots but they weren't much cheaper and they didn't have new brakes, tires or the extra year of warranty.

Here's a link to the build log/journal I started for my gran coupe if you want to check out some photos and details.

Got a CPO 2014 435i with all M bits and Dinan about a 16 months ago. So far so good. No complaints. The N55 and 8AT combo seem very solid and reliable.

Yeah, that guy was a dick. I bought mine from a independent seller and transferred the CPO warranty. That's another option.

I've had my 435i for over 2 years now and have driven over 30,000 miles with it. It's a 2013 September build.. best car I've ever had. No real issues, it's been reliable as hell and so much fun to drive.
Only issues were my brakes were squeaking and my seat was creaking. All easy fixes and didn't cost me anything under dealer warranty.
I'm definitely keeping this car for a long time, all the mechanics I've spoken to who service BMW's say the f chassis is probably the most reliable bmw they've come across.
Charge pipe issues will happen if you tune it, but that's an easy fix.. simply change out your charge pipe if you're gonna tune it.
And I always look back at it when I'm walking away from it

I have a 2014 435 xdrive that I've had for a year and a half now and mine has been reliable as well even with full bolt ons. The only issues I've had so far are with the Pirelli run flat tires that came with the car. They just don't stand a chance against potholes.

I bought my 2014 last year and it just ran out of warranty in May. Car runs well, it's a 435i xdrive, 6 speed manual. I heard CPO only covers major items...plus they didn't offer it anyway. Great car overall!

Bought a'13 328i at 58k miles sight unseen and shipped to me after scouring the country for the perfect ride. Best thing I ever did was a PRE-SALE inspection from an Indy mech. Best money spent!
