Starting stopping engine and locking unlocking car

I’m a new owner of a 2015 435i gran coupe and I’m having issues figuring out how to use the keyless entry and start. I’m not sure how to lock/ unlock the car turn the car off. is there a guide out there somewhere that breaks down better than the manual? Also I have to double pull the handle to open the door.

keyless entry is when the car locates the proximity of the key to the car, & within a certain range, you can grab the door handle to unlock the car, & press the grooves on top of the handle to lock it.

if you're finding that it's not picking up the key, or you need to pull the handle a few times for it to work, you may need a new battery in your fob

Double-pull on the interior handle is normal.
I find the factory owner's manual easy to follow, but you could look for some videos on YouTube if that works better for you. Good luck!

Double pull the handle to get out has been the bmw way forever. First pull unlocks the door. Second opens it.

I set my doors to not lock when driving, I don't want friends who are clueless to pull the door handle off thinking they didn't pull hard enough to open.

Get smarter friends or your next “friend” might jack your car.

I’ve coded it so the doors unlock when I switch the engine off.

I didn't need to code this because it's an option in the idrive menu under doors/keys.

No clue what you're on about buddy, just because some people are not into cars, doesn't mean they're not highly educated.

Is this something I can do in the cars menu? Or is it some aftermarket mod?

Also it seems we need to press the engine stop button twice for the car to completely turn off.

Sorry for all the newb questions.

i can do this both in the idrive menu and by OBD coding (not aftermarket mod, just coding).

You don't have to press engine button twice to turn off, just press fob lock when you leave or touch the door handle if you have comfort access and the car will lock and shut off completely. I coded my car to shut off nav and radio when I open the driver door, so it shuts off that way.

You're talking about Comfort Access (optional). Keyless entry just means you don't have to insert/turn a key to unlock. Basically all cars these days have keyless entry.

You're missing a lot of basic information. You say you have the owner's manual, correct? If not you can get it here: https://www.bmwusa.com/owners-manuals.html

This is my third car with a double pull. I have never had a friend pull off the door handle. Do you really not lock the car because of this? Or is there another reason?

Thanks guys. I have the manual and am slowly going through it. It just when you get a new (to you) car you can get overwhelmed with all the new features.

Ok, let's get this straight, nobody pulled off my door handle lol, it was just an expression of them pulling harder thinking why it's not opened yet. I had 3 BMWs so yes, I know they need 2 pulls to open from the factory. I just leave it unlock now to save myself from telling them to pull twice, there's no other reason than that, same thing as I have to tell them not to slam the door because coupe have heavier doors.
