So after a LOOOONNNNGGGGG extended wait to build, your beautiful F36 BMW 440i Individual Finally arrives (not mine, btw).
Beautiful Individual Citrin Black Metallic (X02) paint with Individual Golden Brown Merino Leather (ZAG8) on the seats, dashboard and even extended leather on the doors. You did your 1200 mile service and loved your car. Then 400 miles later, you do this to it.... |

What a waste of a badass interior. Too much car for some people, or should I say too little restraint even with all those driver safety aids.

That is tragic. Seeing something like that destroyed.
Speaking of parting out... This was the damage to my 2012 335 and the insurance company declared it totaled. Before I had even signed it over, I went to get my stuff out of it and they had already started removing parts. On the bright side, I'm enjoying my 340 a lot more. B58 rules! |

That's not even close to legal as you were still owner. Besides, Insurance would sell it as salvage and not part it out. Whoever purchased in salvage auction might then salvage or part out. |

Depending on when it was and how many miles it had, for a 2012, even a repair estimate of 12-15k could've been enough to deem it a total loss.

It had about 67k miles but repair was listed at just under $14k. Single highest priced part was adaptive HID/Zenon at almost $1400. They said the rule was above 50% of resale value. I'm sure they made out well on parts or rebranded title.
The insurance company (actually the 3rd-party adjusters) took over a month to determine the payout. When I went back to pull the piggy back tune, the door handles (CA) were gone, and a few other weird things. I bugged me to see my baby scavenged that way, but she was gone now. The estoril blue 340 with track handling package has made her a distant memory - but I did grieve for a little bit... |

I was entering an intersection at about 55MPH and a Mazda 3 coming the opposite direction took a left turn in front of me. I pitched it sideways trying to avoid the collision. I almost got parallel to his turn, but he never stopped or slowed and our front ends hit, then back ends. Both doors were untouched. I thought I had kept the damage to a minimum, but parts and labor really add up quick.
