Hey guys,

I saw a couple of vids showing some benefits of turbo blankets -> e.g. here, or here or here. There is also some writeup from the more rigurous test here. Long story short, it helps with faster turbo spool up and can help - depending on engine setup with lowering IATs a bit and temperature of other components close to the turbo. So not much top-end power, but still benefits.

Issue is, there is not one made for B58. I got in touch with guys at PTP Turbo Blankets (one of main manufacturers) and they said they would need a turbo sample in their shop in Austin Texas (they can give you one for free if you do that), or they need a scanned file such as CAD/Solid Works.

So - 1. does anybody want to drive to texas to get it done for free? I guess later. Or 2. does anybody know where to get a scanned file for the turbo? I have the pure 800, but it should be stock housing with mainly the insides changed. I tried contacting pure, but not sure if they will let me have it. I asked them to send it to ptp but again not sure. If anybody has ideas, would welcome it . Would be happy to test it and post results here

14Jul20: Awilki is doing an install of first prototype. If successful, availability will be 3-4 weeks from that point with pricing as follows:
MSRP: $299.95
Group buy 10+: $259.95
Group buy 20+: $219.95
Reason for higher cost is that blanket covers exhaust manifold as well which uses a lot of material

25Jul20: Awilki installed prototype and send some feedback to PTP; now waiting for response on updating the prototype

25Aug20: Awilki ran some initial tests showing a degree of IAT reduction and overall heat reduction in engine bay (see page 6 and 7) - hopefully more tests incoming

25Aug20: PTP are making first batch of 20 units based on few design inputs from Awilki -> please let us know if you're interested in getting into this group. Note: We are confident that it will be possible to install w/o removing the turbo, but cannot yet be 100% certain.

12Sep20: PTP finished first batch - get yours here! They said first batch is only 20 so act soon . All for group buy price of $219!

14Sep20: First batch is sold out . Second will come as soon as there is feedback on the first for any possible adjustments

I'm over in Houston and just happen to have my stock turbo and manifold in a box in my garage. Been meaning to make a trip to Austin so would just need to see when I can make it happen.

We dont have a quote from them yet. You can check out their website - from what I've seen stock ones they have are 160-200$. They also say that if you bring them a new turbo for a new car they give you one free so I'm hoping our knight in shining 340 armor awilki will get that.

I am in the same boat (G30 - albeit Pure 800) - should be similiar. When I asked, they say there are 4 different variations of those turbos, but the turbo housing itself should be similiar I hope.
