Brembo Caliper Repair Kits - Out of stock for months

Looks like the dust boots on my Brembo 4-pot (grey, 40 mm) calipers are starting to die. They looked a bit 'cooked' but no holes yet.

I've been searching around for a repair kit by either Brembo or Centric. Have found kits on Ebay but by manufacturers I have no idea regarding quality. Anyone have a lead on where to get either Brembo or Centric Caliper Repair kits?

Contact Dave Zeckhausen at Zeckhausen Racing. He's plugged in.

I did give him a try and he mentioned he hasn't seen any of these parts for months. What on earth is going on with the supply chain these days?

I love RockAuto but in this case it's hard to tell if the kits being sold are the right size. Seems some details are missing.

Same thing that happened before to supply chain-Covid! Now new Covid BA.5 variant is extremely infectious, spreading globally like wildfire, people are out sick from work/dealing with longer term Covid fatigue & slowing overall productivity so supply chain in many industries is slowing.

Difference now is that press isn't covering Covid, few people are wearing masks and new variants aren't stopped by blue or yellow surgical masks, only N95/KN95 masks work against new variants.

Rockauto is the spot. Blue (340 Msport or 370 m performance), red|yellow| orange (mperformance 370), Grey 4pots and f8x 4pot only differ by the paint. They are all 40mm pistons. The 2pot rears will be 40mm (f3x f2x) or 44mm(f8x) pistons.

So all of those "rear w/ blue caliper" are all 40mm. The front kits with seals for 4 piston are all 40mm. The first one is a kit with one seal so it's for the sliding 1pot that comes with the Grey 4pots. All 6cyl f3x Come with 4pot up front.

Just did a full rebuild on 340mm greys and m235 2 pòt rears and powder winter 2020. You can even use the part numbers to buy them from other places.

You're looking for Brembo PN 20.4872.46.

I found this place listing 19 in stock (you need 8):
https://addictionmotorsport.co.uk/du...-seal-20487246

They're available from many places. Google is your friend.

What size did you buy? I could not find seals and boots for the 40 mm pistons. 38 mm was the largest on the site as of July 20, 2022.

Thanks for the tip. 40 mm does seem to be the correct size. 20.4872.46 is the correct part for BMW? It's hard to imagine there are multiple variations on a 40 mm dust seal for calipers but . . .

A little pricey too. 11 GBP is 13 USD x 4 per caliper makes just the dust seal $52 per caliper alone, without the inner square cut seal for the inside of the piston. Typically a kit of dust and square cut seals is USD $22 per side for a name brand, less for some of the cheaper stuff (see posting referring to Rock Auto).

I generally tend to stick to BMW or OE (i.e. a brand whore) so I don't mind paying a bit extra but for a full kit of dust and inner square cut seals, a 400% markup seems a tad pricey in this case.

Glad to hear they are all the same piston size. I thought the M Performance brakes (those that come with 370mm front rotors) were 42mm pistons while the 'regular' 4 pot grey calipers were 40mm.

I love Rock Auto but while I would pick Centric for brake parts haven't much experience with Raybestos or AC Delco. How could they screw up a seal? Do I want to find out?

Do you have any experience with Raybestos or AC Delco? Maybe it's a given that if the car is tracked, those seals are like spark plugs, replaced once a year so any brand chosen just needs to hold on that long.

I used all three in my journey to discover piston sizes the hard way. Bought whatever was the closest and available.

Front Brembo F3x calipers 370 and 340 are absolutely identical except the 370 casting is stretched out by 15mm to fit over 30mm larger diameter rotors. See photo. So the pistons, seals, dust caps, pins and clips are identical. They even take the identical brake pad part number.

That's the correct Brembo part number for the 4-piston front calipers. The F3x (and probably many others) cars use Brembo calipers. The manufacturer's name is cast in the back (please see the above caliper pictures).

I didn't do an exhaustive search or a search for price. That vendor was randomly selected from the search results and happened to have enough in stock to do the job. There's probably another vendor that has them for less.

There's always 3rd-party parts from Rock Auto and other similar places.

I've been told Centric got out of supplying the smaller caliper rebuild parts, probably focusing on the larger ticket items. Ran into the same problem last year so it's not getting any better.

I got my rebuild pieces from Patrick McC at lbhsbz@hotmail.com. His kits include the piston boot/seal, the crossover seal and some assembly oil.

Send him the Centric part #s and he should be able to source them for you:
Front: 143.34039
Rear: 143.34040

Probably around ~$25/corner + shipping from Cali.

Rock auto has all the parts you need as stated already. I've had the AC Delco, Brembo, and Raybestos in hand simultaneously and you will be fine with either. I currently have all three installed mix and match to make a full set.
