Need help with offset and lowering, please?

Current wheel setup:

225 40 19 front
255 35 19 rear

8.5 30, 9.5 35

About to get my car lowered on some new KW comforts, but would like to know if this is possible? Currently on stock m sport suspensions. I regret the larger offsets as I think they are a bit too aggressive for my taste on the f30.

1. Will these tires rub at all if lowered?
2. How much lower should I go without any fender rolling needs?
3. Negative camber needed?

Thank you

Lol! I’m at max drop rear on KW street comforts which is about 1”.

I have the factory KW spacers which come stacked on the adjusters on mine, and I’m betting you don’t have them on your sedan application is the difference.

Without them and just using the kw's, how many fingers can fit in between the tire and fender?

Adjusters screwed full down but spacers in, stock wheels and tire diameter, 1 finger or slightly less.

27” to top of arch stock, at 26” now rear.

Haven’t pulled them but thinking of doing so to get the extra drop.

Perfect. Just the information I needed.
What tires are you on?

Stock wheels and tires for now. So 225s and 8’s.

Pretty sure the f31 has those spacers included which make the adjusters effectively taller because of the higher rear weight.
No side profile shots, but this is from earlier today. Hopefully it helps.

Keeping some preload on fronts to avoid rattles or spring popping out, I tuck about 1/2” of tire, from 27” to arch to 25.5.

So that’s about 1” rear from stock and 1.5” front lowering. But you can crank up back to stock height, so you should be able to go a bit lower in front and adjust rear to same as you have now no problem. Even with the aggressive fitment the first pic shows.

Dang, even stock it looks pretty good. Little ocd and wish it was aligned with the fender a bit though 👍👍👍

I am sure side profile looks way better since you have it lowered.

Btw any issues with comfort without being too bias?

Thanks.
I grew up on slammed minis and slammed classic cars like mgbs with factory half cut wheel wells where they always tucked tire and even rim… so I like mine in enough to be able to tuck the rim in the fender and this does just that… vs being flush or with tire or rim being an interference fit.

Different stokes for different folks!
plus If they stick out too much or are flush flush, you lose the usefulness of the “blown wheel face” front vent which reduces drag and improves mpg. It’s one of the really clever aero features I noted on this thing!

As far as ride comfort…both Yes and no.

Rear still rides great. Better than stock.

Front also rode better than stock AT NEAR STOCK HEIGHT… firm but supple, like a rwd Msport 5 series… I left em full up for a few days while I chased a rattle and set the rebound adjusters and made sure I liked em Before introducing another variable.

at this height only in front sharp impacts are a bit thudded. adjustment is for rebound iirc not compression so being at max low it doesn’t have quite enough travel for max comfort. I also haven’t tried turning it up two more clicks yet, isn’t a big enough issue for me to spend the 5 minutes to do so.
Have considered a lip and then raise front up .25 - .5 inch to get better ride quality, but I do like it tucking a little bit of tire up front.

it is good except over uneven pavement breaks, and part of that is probably the runflats being so stiff too. I know where all the bad spots are nowadays and simply avoid them, lol. Not that it doesn’t handle them but it doesn’t soak them up near imperceptibly as it did at full height on KWs. I do want to be clear, isn’t any harsher this low than the factory set up was at full height, and I don’t feel like a broke a rim at every little pothole anymore, though still unpleasant! (Seriously, that’s how bad it was stock at 70k)

Ahh so you have a lot of variations going on, totally understand. Man, seriously detailed response, appreciate it.

I am already back on my stock 18" tires with a new set of apex (18x8.5 et35 , 18x9.5 et43) and now with a front lip. Really worried about the ride quality which is also half the reason why I went with kw sc's!

I am super excited and waiting to get the coilovers on at the end of the month.

I would love if you can get a profile pic of your f31 when you're free !

As requested, found one I had taken a few months ago post KW install since I’ve not take a profile recently. Sorry that it’s on a bit of inclined driveway.

Thank you VERY much! Side profile looks wayyy better. I also finished lowering mine on stock tire sizes with some new conservative OEM+ looking apex ec-7 wheels.
