Electrical What? I'm confused

Evening Gents,

To start off I love my F30!! I do need the communities input/suggestion on an issue that I have been experiencing. (Yes I tried looking but didn't find anything)

I have to press lock/unlock and the engine start/stop button multiple times before the car will recognize the key fob in the car.

Sometimes the right low beam headlight will not come on.

Here are my mods:
    • DDM HID kit
    • LED Position Parking Lights
    • LED Fog lights
    • Aftermarket BMW door puddle lights

I'm pretty confident the issue with the key fob is the aftermarket puddle lights. I have removed them for one week and the car worked like a dream than the car decided to start having the issues the right low beam comes on when it wants to so I installed the puddle lights back in. I have had all of these modifications running perfectly fine for the last 2 yrs and than one day it just started acting up. I do use Carly to code some things out FYI. Has anyone been successful with using aftermarket puddle lights?

The most likely culprit is the puddle lights, there are numerous threads about how they can interfere with the fob functions. Some cause problems, some don't.

I would really like to understand why in the hell this happens. The car harness is a 2 wire which looks like just power and ground. It literally makes zero sense on why this would happen but it def. does seem to make a difference with it recognizing the FOB.

Also I figured out the headlight issue... The ballast was intermittently failing.. It went completely out today.

I don't know. Mine never caused any problem, so I never had a reason to investigate it. I'm just aware that it happens by the experience of others.

They're no longer being sold. You might find something similar. These differ from the usual in that they have an aluminum housing instead of plastic. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This screams that there is a grounding issue with one of your add ons. If there is an intermittent short ( or insufficient resistance between power and ground) then that could interfere with the radio signals.
