Broken capacitor on F30 key fob
I have bought a replacement key fob housing because my main key is beat up and scratched so I wanted to replace it but in I have accidentally broken 2 capacitors on my key fob with razer blade.
One is REALLY small and other is a little bit bigger. This is a easy fix, BUT I have an issue with how to determinate what capacitors I need to buy. Any ideas? Thanks. P.S In the meantime I have soldered the bigger capacitor, but the small one is irreparable, it needs to be replaced. But I would like to replace the bigger one too, just to be extra safe. |

You need to measure its capacitance, if it's still working. This is an SMD capacitor so unlikely to have any writing on it...

The larger one is physical size 0805. The smaller one is size 0603. Since this is a low voltage circuit, the capacitors are likely just filtering the current as opposed to storing charge.
You can replace them with nominal values like .1 uF rated at 6V or higher and it will be perfectly fine. As a matter of fact, chances are that it works just fine as is. |
