Footwell Module Coding Service any good?
I have a 2012 BMW 335i F30 which has some strange issues such as battery drain message after starting car, dome light staying on and having to turn off manually after starting car and some other things like door locks locking and unlocking randomly, display lights going off and on.
The main issue is that it stops communication to ODB2 port so cannot read check engine light codes. I looked at the footwell module repair videos and it looks more that what I am used to doing. I've repaired blown capacitors and bulging capacitors on printers and stuff but BMW's circuit board has few of these and looks like the soldering required really is small and I'm probably a bit sloppy and it does look like it requires some software knowledge or tools so I found some footwell module coding services for $49. The reviews are pretty good. Has anyone tried on of these services? https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...w=frm&_sacat=0 Also, I am wondering if I remove the footwell module for a few weeks will my girlfriend be able to drive her BMW to work or will it we out of commission without the footwell module? |

There is no footwell module in the F30. It is called FEM (Front Equipment Module). It is a werry essential part of the car, as it is the part of the key system, lights, electric windows and much more, and it also contains the Gateway module communicating on the OBD2.
If the module is removed, the car is out off commission. You need to work with a real specialist to "start on a fresch" with the GWM and FEM (key) |
