0W20 or 0W30 for 2016 N26
So - can anyone definitely tell me if there is an issue with using 0W30 on my 2016 328i XDrive? When I lift the hood it has a sticker for 0W20 - when I go to BMWs own site - and try to buy 0W20 it says not for this car while he does say 0W30 is correct.

Either one of them you can use on the car. As long as BMW LL01 cert then your good to go. If you want mpg 0w20 is the way to go.

The car was purchased CPO - best gas mileage have been able to achieve was 32 MPG but that was 99% highway with no traffic and just two little ones in the car with me. Doing exactly the speed limit. I wasn't displeased but I believe the car is rated at 35 highway - I have yet to see it. Maybe the dealer already switched it over to 0w30 which would explain my missing 3 MPG? |

You'll never see the EPA mileage figure.
https://www.edmunds.com/fuel-economy...a-ratings.html The difference between 0w20 and 0w30 is slight. BMW went from recommending 30 to 20 to get perhaps another half a mile per gallon or so towards their CAFE, and so long as the engine lasts through the warranty period that's what matters to them. I decided to stay with 5w-30 for better protection, but with better oil than the Shell or Pennzoil or whatever brand BMW is currently using. Between going to Liqui Moly Molygen and Cera Tec additive I gained 2 MPG compared to BMW 5w-30. |

My car's underhood sticker says 0w20.
During my last oil change I couldn't decide 0w20 or 0w30 so I just mixed the two together... I had left over LL01 0w30 and mixed that with a few BMW 0w20 LL17FE. Quote:

I have bm3 s1 and awe quad exhaust. Went to Las Vegas from Los Angeles... got me 36 mpg on sport mode. It could have been better if I drove on comfort mode. All this going at 75 mph. Anyway back to oil. I still have 1 more oil change with my free maintenance. After I'll use 0w30 ( still deciding on brand) |

Eco Pro doesn't do diddly when cruising. It has some effect in town, by reducing throttle response and lowering shift points, but it's slight, and doesn't save enough gas to make it worthwhile. I get 35-36 when cruising, but it doesn't take much in town to knock that down considerably. Most of my driving is in town, where I average 24-25, but there aren't many stoplights where I live, so not much time idling.

I used to get better MPG on the same route in my 2015 Audi A4. That car is heavier and AWD as well.
