Question 2018 330i Exhaust Help!! (Remus 330i/335i/340i?)

Hey all,
I have been doing a bit of research on this topic but still am a little confused. I currently have a 2018 330i LCI (Engine wise I am assuming its a B46 as I live in California). I was looking at exhausts and decided to get a Remus as it maintains the valves and I prefer the sound (and a JB4 piggyback tune) over that of the MPPSK. I was planning on getting the AWE but I want to keep the valves due to the some finicky neighbors. Anyway, the problem I’m having is that not many exhausts seem to be classified as functional with the 330i. From my understanding, the 330i became the replacement for the 328i from 2016-2018. However, I have seen some posts claiming that exhausts for the 328i don’t work on the 330i. In addition to this, a lot of people seem to be using 340i exhausts (OEM, MPE, Remus, etc) on their 330i’s by just swapping the diffuser out to accommodate the split exhaust. In the end, I mainly care about sound and keeping the valves. I don’t care much for aesthetics but I am fine with dual or quad output as long as it sounds good. From what I’ve seen online, there is a remus exhaust for the 330i (quad), 335i (dual), and 340i (dual). As said before, I really only care about the sound and the valves so if anyone has any information or input on these exhausts and which one would sound better or work better with the 330i, it would be greatly appreciated. I don’t know much on the topic but from what I’ve seen apparently using a 340i exhaust on a 330i seems to sound better, which confuses me so any information on that as well would help. Thanks.

REMUS do not make an F30 330 exhaust, they only make the G chassis 330 exhaust.

For the best sound and easiest install, I recommend you get the F30 340 REMUS exhaust

Thanks a bunch. I don’t have the M sport bumper so I can’t swap out the diffuser to accommodate the split dual exhaust. Would this not be an issue at all, require cutting a hole, or require getting a new bumper? I’m up for cutting a hole or getting a new bumper if necessary but I want to know if the sound difference is worth the trouble (as opposed to just getting an exhaust that fits my current single side dual exhaust hole (https://x-ph.com/awe-tuning-bmw-f30-320i-328i-330i-420i-428i-430i-exhaust-suite/?sku=3010-22022&wbraid=CjoKCAjw_o-HBhAzEioAl0b6u2vTOjmKrp6HR7xPq9SM3aW301rGYYG3I9fsG V2Q7tA4afecoH0aAtXd))

its hard to say if its worth it as sound is subjective, I personally would go through the trouble on my car as I think REMUS has the best sound

Are you asking if more sound is worth the trouble? Hell yeah

I don't specially have knowledge on using 340 exhaust setup on a 330 though. I will let the experts Chime in.

Im also interested in this, same boat 330i B46 in California. I was about to pull the trigger on the AWE but didn't do it yet as I have no idea how it sounds irl.

Ima hit up a custom shop to get an opinion and a quote. Would like to hear what you end up with, and if you tune it, not many tuned f30 330i's that I know of

I have a Remus axel back on the 2018 330ix. I'm in Canada and at the time (2019) there were no other options. Not sure if this is currently on the market. I like the exhaust note and it was a nice deep sound. After the VRSF catless downpipe, however, the car sounds very metallic and tinny... espeically on cold-start and higher revs...so currently not too happy with the sound, but that is due to DP not the axel back i would imagine.

This is the Remus exhaust I purchased. I also bought an aftermarket diffuser to accomodate the duel tips otherwise it came with a stencil to cut the original one.

I have just recently added a 340i/440i original muffler box to my 2016 330i LCI and the sound is amazing now. You only need to cut the old exhaust on the BMW marked point on the pipe (marking of 330i muffler and 340i muffler is on the same position) and swap the muffler box, that's pretty much it - same mounting, same flaps and same hangers - one of the easiest updates and definitely a job for a weekend warrior if you have the tools and enough space. My Aussie exhaust system was only 75mm and the new muffler box has 80mm, but have simply used an adapter - total cost was about 700 USD incl. new diffuser, all done by an exhaust shop. I have then added new Akrapovic exhaust tips to finish it off. That was way cheaper than the official 330i Performance exhaust or any aftermarket solution. I'm super happy - sounds much deeper and meaner now

ps: If you consider to buy a 335i muffler, it's not a straight fit and needs some adjustment and welding, only 340i (440i) fits.

I highly recommend this video:

Where in california do you live? I also have a 2018 330i with some simple modifications here and there. I switched out my oem muffler for the 340i one and I also took out the secondary cat located between the resonator and primary cat. The exhaust note sounds perfect imo due to it not being loud during start ups and normal daily driving. However, during some spirited driving, it sounds amazing.

Was looking to do this to my 330i, have been trying to find a used one for awhile now with no luck. Been considering trying to find one off a reputable website. A little concerned on the connection however. Is the diameter the same for both pipes?

just go with any 335/340 muffler you want, I have a 335 rev9 high flow sounds great, I didn't use the clamp provided because it would prob rattle so I had an exhaust shop weld it, its very easy for the muffler show to line up the exhaust. My 335 pipe for the muffler didn't line up so they cut it and made a custom one. Cost about all 400$ for the diffuser+muffler modification and install
