AC not coming out of passenger side vents
When I have the AC on, no air comes out of the 2 passenger vents. The drivers side and rear vents work fine. Could it be an actuator that is in need of replacement? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

When these systems run low of Freon they can behave strangely- airflow regulation is disrupted and it's not due to damper actuation issues. Experienced this in my 2012 X3 when Freon ran low. It's most common vents on one side blow bit warm, other side remains cool/cold.
How many miles on car? Ever has a/c system evacuated, leak checked and refilled? Last edited by Wgosma; 07-22-2021 at 06:08 PM.. |

Might be worth a/c guy doing system checkout, easy to identify low Freon and not costly to evac, leak check and refill.
Car has sufficient miles to have lost some Freon, these systems do leak a bit over time. |

I had a similar problem with my '15 435i just before the CPO warranty expired. Had cold air on driver side and tepid air with much reduced volume out of passenger side. Dealer replaced the heater core after much investigation into the dash vents and actuators. Worked great since.

This is a common problem on Hondas. My problem was the evaporator, but as n8thegreat noted, it could be the heater core or any other part of the AC system. It was covered under a 10 year warranty on the Honda - hoping that it's covered on the BMW.
The only AC problem I've had on my BMWs is the freeze-up when it's very hot and very muggy. |

Have you scanned for codes? Perhaps one of your actuators isn't actuating.
I also wondered if maybe freezing up might cut off flow to the side vents--had you been running ac for a long time on the road? Long trips in humid weather, asking for more than 20 degrees cooler seem to bring on freezing. (There is some coding fix bmw can apply if that's your issue).
