That's a hard decision...Andream may never make it work with EVO units but the Bimmertech unit is so much more expensive.

if yours is id5 nbt evo you need the evo mmi box for yours.nbt wouldnt work

I asked this question in the following thread, but was guided here by a helpful user muniz_ri.

I recently installed an Andream MMI device, but I do not get any audio when connected to android auto.

My car is a F31 2018 with navigation professional.

A few comments:

• I am connected wirelessly
• iDrive audio works without problem
• I disconnect bluetooth iDrive
• I get a sound when touching the screen in the Andream settings, confirming there is a connection to the speakers
• My car does not have an AUX front, so I cannot select this for for external audio through iDrive?
• I have a spare female AUX to male USB adapter which I did not install - this adapter is not mentioned in any guides and I do not want to connect via AUX if possible.

Do I need to code AUX despite no physical AUX being present? Do I need to install the AUX/USB adapter and not use wireless?

Yes you need to code aux, you don't need the adapter and you can use wireless.

Edit: this is providing the unit routes the audio to the aux port of the headunit. If you have everything installed it will be easier to just code it and check that examining the quadlock.

I doubt a regular car shop would do it. Just get a Bluetooth adapter and Bimmercode

if you're in the UK, i can confirm that the bavarian automotive box works a treat with my ID5. Really surprised it all just worked, instant bluetooth connection, sound is perfect. No need to plug in any AUX cables or anything.
Screen scale and resolution is all fine. All works great and wirelessly with my pixel 3 XL.
i just had to select AUX in Media in idrive for the sound.

There's a little bit of lag if moving around but .....having full android auto and google maps and lovely spotify showing side by side is just fantastic.
And it only cost me £225.

Not sure how it all works with calls yet though, whether it routes through bmw idrive + car mic....or whether i do tap into the car mic so that the MMI can use it for calls through android auto...don't know yet.

The Bimmertech unit used to have several advantages specially for Android Auto users but the other vendors have mostly caught up with updated software.

Now the only advantages that the Bimmertech unit has is the simpler UI and the ability to skip or replay music tracks by double toggling the idrive controller right or left. In fact, the Andream software now offers more customization options in settings than the Bimmertech unit.

But Bimmertech's support, if you need it, is still much better than any of the other vendors. I suppose this is what the extra premium gives you and not much else at this point in time.

hmm... the one that i bought also says it supports the 10" screen, and in the instructions when i had to set the jumpers on the box it referred to both 8 + 10.

Looks normal.

It boot up (at least is doing something because the led flashes) but the display stays black. If I put the R gear it correctly switch back to the Rear camera.

I already tried to update the firmware using the recovery procedure but no luck.
