Anyone know about STX or Steam Turbo

Apparently there is another company called Steam Turbo Chargers that are heavy into Subarus and Mazdas turbo applications and have recently announced their offerings for N55 turbo replacements.

http://steamturbochargers.com/

I think this is their Stage 1:
STX 67, claims 75-90 hp over stock:
http://steamturbochargers.com/index....r-upgrade.html

I know Pure Turbo is dominating right now on the N55 just wondering if anyone has experience with this brand.

Interesting. Looks like these max out at 510hp. Might be a good option for anyone considering the pure stage 1.

That's what I was thinking for stage 1 options. Keep your OEM turbo have it ported and get your own compressor wheel for a custom Stage 2.

I've sent them an email a couple of days ago asking about there setup, data or dyno and no response yet.

Not really if you think about it, its the same as Pure stage 1 for $400 more. And its stamped Steam turbo which could be a dead giveaway at a dealer when it comes to warranty. Its the little things that matter and its why Pure gets my vote.

Agree about the stamp thing. They should have gone for a more OEM look.

But they don't require a core from you so the price is actually $370 less than Pure if you went with Pure stage 1 and kept your stock turbo.

And they claim more ponies for a stage 1 then Pure. Sure PT is a solid brand for newer BMW's, but so was RB and Vargas at one point. This Steam Turbo company seems to have a long history in Subaru. Subaru tuners are nothing to scoff at.

Great find!!

What is nice about Pure (for either stage) is the installation kit and DV upgrade.

However, stage 2 is $4000!

For $1299 and no $800 Core (!) this is a great deal-I could essentially get a new tune, install, and turbo for $4,000!

If it's suspected it's fairly easy for the dealer to ID an aftermarket turbo job. Just look at the wheels which you can do by taking off the cat pipe or turbo inlet. I bet BMW has some reports/literature that will help the dealership know.

Still cannot find one BMW user with results on a steam turbo or for the matter a F10 with pure stage 1.
