As in the title, how to get a free Apple Car Play from BMW, even tho you didn’t t get it as an option!!

This took some Trial & Error, and possibly a loophole on BMWs part, but this worked flawlessly in my car for absolutely free!

On connected drive store Apple Car play preparation was showing as not available from my car as I didn't have Wifi antenna fitted as standard, or whatever option was required.

The only option for me was to pay someone with a hu tool to create an fsc patch and then load it in my car..

Steps:

1. Fitted the BMW OE WiFi antenna to my NBT id5 unit.
2. I VO coded the car with 6CP 6NR and 6NS
3. Open Connected drive on your iDrive, right click option and click update!

And thats it.

Now, nothing happened for atleast a few days.

Then just by pure accident, I went onto Connected store and I was surprised to see Apple Car play available for my car all of a sudden.. I tought, hmm thats strange.. Option to buy it once off at 300 euros!

What I did buy tho was Connected plus 12 months subscription to get Traffic updates and 12 month Map subscription for 105euros. ( whether this had an influence, I'm not sure but it was worth a try

I hit option update again, and viola after few hours my Traffic RTTi is back..

Following up 3 days later, I went back to check connected drive just to see if Apple CP is still there. I tought it was maybe some mistake on the BMWs part..

Guess what, Now it says Apple Car play has been activated in your car..

YES!! So I went and checked my car and no way, this thing works.. Im proper amazed!!

So go and try it out and thank me later!!

This is the information from BMW portal.

You can see the OE retrofitted options and 6CP being one of them.

Only VO coding the car and then as the car obviously communicates with BMW servers, those options were provisioned into my car for free ( I believe 6CP FSC code is quite expensive) , and I have OE carplay without any patches required!
