Limp mode at 1/4 tank or less at incline for 5 years now

I have a 2015 435i xDrive M-Sport and this problem has been happening to me for about 5 years where I'm on the freeway and it just suddenly goes LIMP mode and I can barely drive it to the side of the road. I turn the car off, wait 30 seconds and restart, no problems.

Usually happens on longer trips, and after the first time this happened, I took it to the dealer, as it was still under warranty, they said it had no codes. I have checked myself, and no codes. I would say this can happen maybe 2-10 times a year, and has become progressively more frequent.

What I have noticed over the years, is that this will always happen every time at around 1/4 tank or less, and most often on an incline.

I'm starting to think this is an LPFP issue. Maybe because with a full tank, there is more pressure at the inlet. I'm thinking I'm going to replace it, but am wondering if anyone has any other thoughts on just what the damn hell is going on. Really causes me anxiety when I'm traveling long stretches without a shoulder.

Thanks in advance.

It's the suction jet valve in the fuel tank. It is not serviceable. It needs a new fuel tank.

You don't go into limp mode without codes in my experience. You need ISTA or something BMW specific.

I think he is saying the code disappeared upon restart. He would need to scan when he has the issue, not when he gets home/later. Although i do agree, there should still be something stored in the history in ISTA even if there is no active code.

This is the answer. It happened to me in my 2015 335 through my 3 years of ownership. It was also progressive, for the first year it wouldn't throw a drivetrain malfunction only registered a HPFP code. Over time it began giving me drivetrain malfunctions. I don't believe a new LPFP will solve the problem.
