Chassis Stabilization error

Hello guys, I got a Chassis Stabilization light come on my iDrive.
my turn signal stopped automatically switching off, my cruise control stopped working and I cannot change the drive mode between Eco, Comfort and sport.

What I did before that happened.

I did an alignment on my car and they told me I have a bad tie rod on the front left (Driver side) and a bad knuckle and spindle on the front right (Passenger side) they continued to do the alignment and it passed but the car was still pulling to the right a bit

I went to the dealership and bought new Knuckle and Spindle and got that replaced. I bought the new tie rod but did not replace it yet. after replacing the knuckle and Spindle I got the light on. wasn't sure what caused that so I did some research and a lot of people were talking about having a dead battery or bad connection could cause that so I checked the battery and yes the connection was really really really loose I was able to just remove that connection with out it twisting.

so I tightened it and still same issue. reading more on forums some one said to disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and then reconnect, after reconnecting start the car and turn the wheel Lock to Lock to resync the steering angle. no luck.

what could have I done wrong when replacing the knuckle and Spindle?
oh and the alignment is alright its slightly pulling to the right and the steering wheel is slightly turned right. if i straighten it out the car slightly moves to the left.

i had this same issue on my E90 330I and all i did was replaced rear shocks... car was doing the same thing, what i did to fix it is just disconnected negative terminal on the battery for about 10 min or so. once i hooked it back on car was fine. Still not sure what really caused it but my guess is since my rear shocks were blown so the car was used to handing with blown shocks and once i fix that car noticed changes in handling ... dont know maybe im just crazy lol

Just had same error. It was a damaged Adaptive Suspension sensor on one of the struts.

Thank you Domotron, a little background on this car, I got it from an auction and it does have salvage title on it due to previous owner jumping it somewhere. rear right shock was blown and all control arms were replaced and the sub frame was replaced with all new OEM BMW parts. but after replacing it I was able to drive the car for over 200 miles with out any issues. and when I did the alignment that's when all the problems started coming out. im really hoping for changing the driver side tie rod and doing the alignment again hoping that will solve my problem but until then, any more ideas what could cause this?

One more think I noticed to day is when the engine is off and I need to steer my wheel the steering rack makes a clunk sound. does that steering rack have to do anything with Chassis Stabilization error

Likely your steering angle sensor. Replace all the parts you need to. Get it aligned properly with the wheel straight. Have them reset it and you should be fine.

If none of aforementioned works I got same error yesterday. My rear control arm broke off so my rear wheel was pretty much shaking back and forth as i was driving. Just a possibility. good luck!!

btw another symptom of this issue is the light does not turn on when starting the car. it only showes up when I drive 15 mph or more. if I drive under 15mph the lights does not turn on as soon as I hit 15 MPH the light goes on.

please help me brainstorm this issue.

fixed

well. for some weird reason, my chassis stabilization error has disappeared
I started driving it much rougher and taking turns really hard and it cleared up.

very strange, I really think it was my battery. When I replaced it, it was showing 12.4 volts as well. After driving about 130 miles at the time the light went off next morning my battery was showing 12.9

I really dont know what fixed it but its been 3 days now with out any issues. hopefully it stays that way.

Having the same issue with my 2016 435i. I'm running KW V2's and we thought it may be a faulty EDC Cancellation Sensor, so we replaced it. However, I am still unable to put my car into Sport Mode and continue getting the Chassis Stabilization error on my dash/screen. I am also experiencing a rough idle and surging RPM's when I first start my car each morning. Any info on what this could be would be greatly appreciated. I just want to fix this issue once and for all.

Get a code reader or take it to someone with a code reader. No point in shotgunning parts at something if the computer is trying to tell you what is broken.

UPDATE: I scanned the car and this is the error I keep getting even after replacing the EDC with a brand new one from KW.

Any help on what could be causing this would be greatly appreciated!

Hello to all, Please help if you can. I had the same chassis stabilization error when I went out tonight. But then all of the following lights came on, ABS, traction control, seat belt tensioner, cruise control malfunction and check engine. What is going on? Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.

My wife got the same light yesterday that went away after 1 minute and looking for places to start exploring and seems like a Bentley manual might be the first place. It’s my wife’s car and I’m away at work until tomorrow to see if I can pull any further codes/info.

-2014 328d xDrive, 90k miles
-Just replaced/registered a new battery, Chassis stabilization light came on in first 100 yards of driving and went away in 1 minute, along with a rougher than normal idle.
-EGR Recall completed last month. During the job, the dealer found the engine cover rubbing through the alternator cable, battery needed replacement (7 years old, knew that was needed), and LF thrust arm bushing was going bad. Quoted insane amount and told them to pound sand kindly. Repaired alternator cable, dremmeled the engine cover, replaced battery and registered with BimmerLink (now this issue), and will be replacing control arms.
-transfer case was replaced under recall 1.5 years ago.
-new tires and alignment 1 year ago (only driven ~5k miles since but could need an alignment I suppose)
-just began sourcing parts for the newly diagnosed thrust arm bushing on drivers side, will be replacing all 4 control arms from FCP Euro once I get a free day to do the job

The first step is always to read the fault codes. Then see what they mean at https://bmwfault.codes/
