Like any other intercooler it depends on the mods you have installed on the car

5" would be best for stock, 6" would be better for Tune + DP

My understanding is that the M2 (Stage 0+) is a relatively mild tune (for an N55)...?

It is and add downpipe thats another 10 HP , you can get away with the 5" but 6" will get you better performance.

Quick query:
I'm somewhat confused, I've read around that the B48 engines doesn't have a FMIC, and for a stage 2 tune (BM3), only DP and CP is enough? Please clarify.

But, to answer your question: all you need is a DP to run stage 2 on a B48.

Awesome thread, thanks for putting it together. Great to see some real world and factual information regarding charge temps and pressure drop. It has been pointed out that while charge temps are very important, they are only part of the equation and pressure drop is just as important. I know the ching chong ebay brands are looked down upon, especially in the context of this thread containing all name brand intercoolers approaching +$1000, but G-plus has been receiving relatively good ratings for the price in the n20/f30 community. I want to say people have posted logs showing good results for charge temps, but after reading through this thread, I am beginning to question the possibility of their pressure drops. Has anyone tested the pressure drop of the gplus intercooler on the n20/f30?

Hi, looking to get a VRSF intercooler and catless downpipr to get to stage 2 for my F30 320i N20 engine. Which VRSF FMIC should i be looking at? Is the 5" stepped performance HD FMIC good enough or should I get the 6.5" stepped competition HD FMIC?
Thanks. |

the 5" is good enough but the 6.5" competition is the better intercooler for stage 2 application

CSF?
is the CSF FMIC tube and fin (front) and bar and plate (rear)? I thought it was all bar and plate...
application is on a stage 2 N55 F30. I do lots of autox, time attack and lapping. Not sure if the comp 1 wagner is sufficient...looking to keep things compact without sacrificing efficiency. |
